Well , thanks all for the input i have been refered to a guy close to my mooring who can repair the alternator so will take it to him . Now i and others i have told , know how it works . Anyway back to the virtual pub .

I have checked the connections , all seem ok ? Ta , I have a wiring diagram but the plug on the back of the tacho is just letters it does not give a clue how it works .

Hi , ihave an isuzu 55 in my boat , when i came to run the engine , the tacho lights up and shows hours run but does not work ,when I put the ignition on the needle jumps a little but when I start the engine nothing . It has two alternators on it , one 80 amp for the starter battery and an 110amp for the leisures .the 80amp is only showing 12.4 volts so I presume is faulty . could the two problems be connected ? how is the tacho driven ?

old timer here ! my use of the word " drive " was not in a car reference but in as you drive a nail into wood , I had to force the boat forward to stop the trolley slipping away .

This morning i had to be at the tiller to " drive " our boat onto a large submerged trolley which was then pulled up a slipway into the shed to have its bottom blacked . I queried why I was involved in this way and was told it was health and safety , and while I was on the boat my wife was asked to sign a disclaimer ! my question is , is this normal or should the marina have better insurance ? if an accident had occurred would my boat insurance cover me . I would think that if they have my boat doing work they would be responsible for any damage etc , am I wrong ? I will ask for a copy of the disclaimer when I pick the boat up .

we are in need of our boat painting , top not bottom , has anyone had experience of a painter , good or bad , from Liverpool to worsley or there about ? your experience appreciated .

now i know they're not fish , and i was not walking or cycling but i could not see anywhere else to put this ! Our mooring is on the L & L and the opposite side is a wooded area along the canal as far as the eye can see . Some times we see a pair of buzzards soaring with still wings , on thermals , going higher and higher until they either go far away or too high to see , they are magic to watch . Anyway yesterday we were sitting at home in the garden and saw a buzzard doing the same but underneath was a seagull , eventually the seagull reached the buzzard and attacked it chasing the buzzard away . this was repeated with another buzzard and different seagull . I would have thought the buzzard was much larger and meaner " talons and big beak " ! so why were they both chased off ? when you get a boat it is much more ! ( I don't like gardening the mooring though )

i am gutted there goes my big money maker , someone got there first and posher ! we are moving the boat on thursday to get our bottom painted ! if i can take a piccy I will , then post it . I always go to port were the controls are behind me within reach.

I drive a car , ride a motorcycle , fly an aircraft , without gadgets " weird devices " , my stick just makes going through narrows while sailing my boat easier for me . ( can I go back to the virtual pub now and be unlocked ? )

don't own up to using " gadgets " someone will tell you off , I think I've some platform shoes in the attic from the 70's, are you a size 8 ? I am happy with my stick !
