Oh, forget I said that.

Hello, your help would be appreciated. I have a Lucas type A127 70amp alternator. I have changed the alternator pulley diameter to help with charging at relatively low tick over 409 rpm and average 700/750rpm when on the move. Will I need to adjust anything to allow rev counter to give accurate rpm reading with the smaller pulley? If yes can you give advise?
Thanks in advance,
Garry.

Is there not a vat exemption if used as a home ? Must also need following up. No vat equals more to spend on fit out.

So, I think I have determined I require a 12" diameter prop, 1" shaft, 1/12 taper, RH
Have a look at ebay item 1922244D3880. Not guite 12" but close. Could be worth asking for more information.

Oh well I'll certainly try that! I'm a cash buyer in a very flexible position so I'm pretty happy to call myself King! I'll take a look at Rugby Boat Sales also
I guess, with cash in hand you may be more comfortable buying from a known broker. I would feel a little uneasy handing over £70k to a private buyer, as at three years old it could still have finance owing on it. Only my suspicious nature but you really need to make all possible enquiries.

Lets hope they don't simply go through the motions !
Sorry.

Even if it's not Mr & Mrs Coward, the boat is easy to identify, and the current owner found.
Totally agree.

Looks like this boat was sold by Whilton marina, so may not be the Coward family on board anymore.

Mike, have a look at the John Barnard youtube clips. Follow his procedures for the roof painting. It must work, he wouldn't take a chance on rust coming thru when charging circa £10,000 for his paint jobs.

Hello, have a look at waterside moorings. (Claverton )The mooring is twice the length that you need however it's only 1 mile to nearest facilities and less than 4 miles to Bath, Shops, bank and post office within 2 miles. You really could not get any nearer.

Chertsey, have a quick look at TFL web site. They have a "river plan" I know this is EA but they want to get involved. They also have ideas for the canals and as they work hand in hand with the mayors office, both sides would bend over in any direction in the effort to "cut pollution", as they see it. Their favourite method is a big stick. This is sad but after many years of dealing with them, I can only see this going one way.
-
Alan, no suggestions at all for enforcement, however TFL are tricky buggers and I'm sure they would spend a fortune in finding a way !

Think of what may happen in London from 2020, when the new low emission targets come into force for all road vehicles. Do you really think that whom ever may be the mayor at that point will allow any number of possibly dirty diesel engines to be run by boaters ? At the very least I imagine they will introduce a charge/penalty as they plan to do for road vehicles that are not zero rated for emissions . The charge at the moment is expected to be £27 per day, 365 days per year, plus the congestion charge.

Good evening all, what are your thoughts on this type of machine ? "hotpoint aquarius WMTF 722H". Sorry can't post a link, your opinions would be useful. cheers.

Hello, you could try Yelvertoft. The new slip way has lots of hard standing and I think the price is good. must be worth a call.

Hello, I really can't do all the clever link stuff, However if you google "narrowboat sobek" and look at section "boat collection ebay" this will show boat for sale and description does say, when out of water, pits filled with epoxy. Does seem to be the same boat

Good afternoon, this boat has been spoken of before on cwdf. Didn't read the whole thread but possibly connected with a scam ? Also when googled you find a old sale site which states that when out of the water in 2012 pitting of the hull was found and pits where filled with epoxy. Not great news but worth checking out before you look at boat.

Good evening, I have no problem in having this series on vhs. I enjoyed every moment of it and taped the lot. having moved a short while ago I still haven't connected the vhs. When I get around to it I will let you know so that you can copy the relevant parts as they featured in several episodes.

Good morning.
Can I ask your opinion of this unit "Ctek M100" to give a proper equalisation charge when off grid. I know it would mean running the genny to charge pairs of batteries separately but if it gives the correct voltage it would seem a small sacrifice to make. As it would be at most once a month or much less .
Any thoughts would be welcome.
Garry.

Good evening, if no other help comes forward, you can find many tutorials on "youtube"
They will be of more benefit than I could be.

True, however we would all have missed a lot of informative and helpful information. I would treat the first 50 - 100 cycles almost as a bonus and start the "count down" from cycle No 101
Garry. (always look on the bright side)..
Alternator / RPM reading.

Thanks for reply Nick, It is connected to the W terminal. Will take a look at the back of rev counter on Friday. All seems pretty much as before, however it would still be good to check it's accuracy. cheers.
