  1. Hi there, Does anyone have any knowledge about CaRT's illusive neighbourhoods? I can't find any specifics online. Ideally a map, but I am aware that CaRT are still only discussing a map being produced. So if you definitely know of even just one or two, that knowledge would be greatly appreciated. Just so I am clear on their specifications when it comes to moving. I also am aware that moving places is defined by CaRT by neighbourhoods as opposed to miles/km. Thanks in advance! I think I have accidentally posted this twice... sorry!

    Coconuts

This has been bugging me and my other half since we moved onto the canals, so I have got to ask.... Does anybody know why there are so many coconuts floating up and down the Grand Union?!? We honestly can think where on earth they are coming from! Thanks in advance for any anwers, you will be saving our sanity Abe
  4. Thanks so much for all those who have supported us - faith in humanity has been restored! Bit of a tangent. (We have researched posts on here just like we did before opening this thread) Does anyone know how easy/ difficult it is to adopt dogs when living on canal boats? Anyone had a successful adoption? We have a decent size boat and our work allows us to have them outside and walked very regularly (3/4 times a day). We have one already that came from blue cross when we were still living on land, and we would love a new member of the family. Thanks again!
  5. Firstly to the people who have given us valuable information, thank you very much! We are fairly new to boating (just over 1 year) and during that time we have never been out of London. We have decided to go to Birmingham as we can still CC whilst still keeping compliant with our license and be near enough for work. Thank you very much again for all your help, much better to make and informed decision than to go wandering off into disaster! To all the other people who made a simple question by a fairly new boater a most gruelling experience. You should be ashamed of yourselves . We are not on the water for cheap living (but not everyone is made of money), nor are we trying to break Cart's licensing laws. We have been on sea our whole lives, and only recently decided to move to canals. We love being on the water. Try not judging people (without any clue as to their circumstances) based on some potentially bad wording on their original posts . You don't have to be a scientist to get the gist. It's very petty behaviour.
  6. Regarding CCing, we mean from moving from neighbourhood A, in City to neighbourhood B, to neighbourhood C, to neighbourhood D, etc then back to A within 1 city. ( This is ok with CaRT CCing license in London)
  7. Thank you very much for the information people So, would Bath be a better place to go? Or Birmingham? We haven't got a definite destination, just fancy a change from London and Bristol seemed like a nice place. Regarding CCing, we mean from moving from neighbourhood A, in City to neighbourhood B, to neighbourhood C, to neighbourhood D, etc then back to A within 1 city. ( This is ok with CaRT CCing license in London)
  8. I am asking about the FREE MOORING spots in/around Bristol and their maximum stay time. Feel free to stop being facetious. Thank you very much for this nice warm welcome to canalworld.net. If any of my spelling or punctuation is incorrect, I'm sure you will let me know as soon as you can, so I don't look silly.
  9. 'Tecnically' yes, you are right, but you know what I meant. Anybody else with any USEFUL information, please comment!
  10. Hi, We are moving our boat from Bulls Bridge to Bristol in the next couple of weeks, but can't find any decent information on the mooring sites that you can continuously cruise without fees, like here in London. Please please help! We want/ NEED to be near public transport for work, but don't need to be central if it's super pricey! Any info you have please share!
