  1. Hi Hoping that Casper gets his answer too but wanted to ask along similar lines.. Batteries will charge from shoreline very well and hold it for some time. When relying on charge from engine, no problem starting engine but very little charge will build and hold in the three 110a domestic batteries. Could it be to do with the batteries or the alternator? Many thanks and please redirect if suitable. This was the top post from my search.
  2. If anyone still around today for the locks to Marsworth would be great. Will just go for it anyway but I guess feel bad asking strangers face to face to help! Company is also appreciated! Alex
  3. Hi everyone. Thank you for all that kind information. Lysander indeed today is a travel day so that's lost but thank you for pointing out. Saves a nasty surprise later. Bramley I'll be in touch. Many thanks to the reassuring words from others. It's all been a bit ill-planned (worst thing to do as a boater I gather) but hoping still goes well. I need to sort out my notifications as I had to log in to find the replies. They normally can come via email? Anyway thanks again!!!
  4. Hi I need to move my boat from today-Thursday from Fenny Stratford to Bates Boatyard (Aylesbury arm GU). Are there any helpers for the locks? Stoke Hammond Lock, Soulbury Locks, Leighton Lock, Grove Lock, Church Lock, Slapton Lock, Horton Lock, Ivinghoe Locks, Seabrook Locks, Marsworth Two Locks and then the 11 locks from Marsworth junction down to Puttenham. That is a lot of locks :/ Hope to arrive at Fenny this afternoon. So realistically there will be none before tomorrow. Would anyone be around to kindly help with any of them? Sadly I am having to do this bit of the journey on my own so would greatly appreciate the help. Thanks very much
  5. Hi Please re-direct me to the appropriate thread (I have been searching but now just need to post something). I need to move my boat from today-Thursday from Fenny Stratford to Bates Boatyard (Aylesbury arm GU). So realistically there will be no locks before tomorrow. I've seen people kindly offer others before and I am having to do this bit of the journey on my own. (Thief, I am testament to it being hard work and a lot of money. It's not fun the idea of moving by myself but it needs to be done. Ultimately it's living on a boat by the end of it that I'm looking forward to). Thanks very much
  6. Thanks for the advice guys!! It's a proper boatyard. That was to take it right back plus priming, ucoat and 2xtop. The prices were separated out so the windows and bits were separate. Am now thinking I can't afford the full job right now and asking them to fix up the odd spots of rust and around the windows when theyre out. She may look at bit patchy but need to be practical.she's not in bad shape just the old paint job wasn't amazing so some brush marks etc. If do a diy job in future how does one not pollute the waterways with all the old paint to sand off??
  7. Hi all Another newbie here. As my boat is currently out getting blacked and the windows need resealing I'm considering getting a paint job at the same time. It seems this is expensive and have been quoted around £2000 for complete paint work (primer, undercoats, top coat, gunwhales, roof, non slippage). Does this seem reasonable to you? She's 48ft. Also I'm trying to find a certain colour. I always thought I wanted a mulberry or ruby type colour. A little bit non-trad but not too jazzy and out there. I have a pic I found online of a boat I like the colour of and will try to upload when I work out how. The only paint people I see who do nice colours are SML. Is it decent? My boatyard do international and craft master. They suggested international bounty might be similar but it seems more crimson and not sufficiently 'pinky'. Any ideas or thought? It's an expensive decision!
