  1. Thanks all, appreciate the feedback, I do feel it's all about money, so many people telling me its expensive dont bother buy a flat instead seems my dreams are being crushed by others.. Do the high street banks support boat mortgages or do we need to speak to specialists? Seen a wide beam I like the looks of that comes with a mooring.
  2. Do I detect a slight sarcasm in your response in regards living in a caravan? I am not new to boating I used own a Fariline carrara 36ft at Naburn in York (not in the Marina) so I am not new to the winter tedium. I am however new to Narrowboats and WideBeams. I do appreciate the time you have taken to offer me advice and it is something I am looking into. There are more charges to look into Leeds Marina for example you still pay council tax on top.
  3. Thanks for the advice, I work for myself, so I could in theory work on board, but whats the situation regards broadband? and does Clarence dock have room for a wide berth? Ithought Clarence dock was £3000 which seems too steep to me. stay for 6 years thats £18k wow.
  4. Hello all. Having recently visited realtives in Audlem (stunning English village) they decided to sell up and buy a 52ft Narrowboat, I went to see them expecting.. well not sure to be honest, as I dont want to offend anyone here, lets just say I was very very suprised bu the quality of the boat and the interior, modern, roomy, and well awesome sauce. I go the bug.. I am currently 41 and have been renting all my life I have been on a few narrowboat holidays (i know there is a difference between holiday and reality) but want to jump ship as it were. The advice they gave me was to find a mooring, Marina FIRST. So I am asking if anyone could advise me on locations in Leeds, Bradford or surround area, that would have residential moorings availaible, I do not know where to look or who to ask. Clarence Dock prices seemed prohibitive so any advice would be very appreciated. I do like Rodley, Apperly bridge (AP Marina seems sterile to me) but would be willing to go further afield and have a mooring somewhere out in the sticks somewhere as long as I am near (ish) to leeds am happy. Does anybody have any advice, I have not thought too much about wide beam or narrow boat at the moment but a 50ft sounds about right for a WB. Thanks in advance Andy.
