  1. Thanks everyone for all the replies and advice. I'm glad to say that my Dad has got his camera back yesterday - a big thank you to Colin from Shardlow, who handed it in to the Wychaven Council offices at Pershore. It's re-affirms my belief that the vast majority of boaters are lovely people!
  2. My dear parents are currently on our narrowboat Oliver on the river Avon near Tewkesbury. My father forgot to pick his camera back up when they left Nafford Lock at ~1pm today - he's since cycled back there but it's gone, so hopefully some kind soul has picked it up to return it to the ANT base in Stratford or Tewkesbury. Other than looking at the photos to get the boat name I'm not sure it's traceable back to him though, so if anyone sees or hears anything, please do get in touch. I think he's more annoyed at losing the photos than anything! I've suggested in future he leaves some contact details attached to it (it's not the first time he's had to go back for his camera, but it is the first time it wasn't where he'd left it!) Many thanks, Toby
  3. Thanks Steve - yes they'll definitely do that. Captive audience at the staircase too! The CRT guys at the 5 rise are aware and will also pass on the message, and knowing the canals there are lots of very heplful people around so I'm sure they'll find a rescuer from somewhere tomorrow. Just to update - they've had a very kind offer from one of the CRT people in the area to give them a tow with their own boat later this afternoon. If you see them pass then say hello
  4. Calling out to anyone around Bingley headed East! My parents are currently on holiday on our narrowboat Oliver, and after a problem at the 2-lock staircase after Bingley on the Leeds and Liverpool, the engine bay got flooded and the engine is now seized solid. Collin and John at Rodley boats have been fantastic and came out to take a look at things, but the sad conclusion is they need to take the engine out to look at it properly. I need to talk to our insurers again tomorrow, but in the immediate term we need to move the boat from bridge 206 down to Rodley boats at bridge 217. If anyone is in the area and headed that way, my parents and I would be extremely grateful if anyone could give poor Oliver a tow. Keeping my fingers crossed Many thanks, Toby
  5. Hi, I'm looking to get some round 3/8" rails for the bottom of our roman blinds, to hold the blinds in against the side. Ideally I'd like to get something in stainless steel that'll last and not tarnish. I've found Midland chandlers have some here but they only go up to 4' length in stainless steel (6' in brass though!) and we need at least 5 feet lengths. I've managed to find 6' chrome tubes, but not too keen on it as I suspect the finish won't last. Found a wonderful site called Jim's Engineering, but sadly due to ill health he's not making curtain rods at the moment. Does anyone know any other places I could source from, either online/mail order or within reasonable range of Oxford? Many thanks, Toby
  6. Thanks all, that's been really useful, much appreciated. Thanks for the welcome too Long-time lurker but first time posting anything!
  7. Hi, I'm looking to replace our rather basic timer for a Webasto Thermo Top C heater with the heatmiser 7-day timer (TM1-N 4110554A). The relevant thing appears to be the one described here: http://www.melloronline.co.uk/product_uploads/14037015851.pdf Having read the installation and operating instructions above, it doesn't mention anywhere a simple manual on/off override. Does anyone have one of these themselves or know about them, and if so could you confirm whether you can manually override the timer settings to force the unit to either stay on (preferably for more than an hour at a time!) or off as required. Many thanks, Toby NB Oliver
