  1. Can anyone help me with this? I have an Alde comfort 2928 which appears to work fine. It fires up but no heat gets to the radiators. I can hear the circulation pump whirring and the water in the header/expansion tank gets hot. I have tried bleeding all 3 radiators but can find no airlock? The system also circulates through the calorifier (dual coil) though I can't see any valve to control whether the hot water from the boiler circulates to the radiators or the calorifier, or both. Up until recently the first radiator in the circuit would get warm but not the other two. On a trip last week, even the first radiator stayed cold even though the boiler had been running for around 20 mins and the water in the header tank on the Alde 2928 was close to boiling. The circulation pump was definitely working. I normally use engine heat for domestic hot water, which works fine. Any ideas/suggestions as to what may be going on and how to get heat into the radiators? Thanks in advance.
  2. My first post so here goes... Having resisted the idea on onboard TV the dark nights are making me change my mind. I think a satellite system is the way to go and I am looking for something compact (to store) and easy to set up. Although not cheap, the Avtex Snipe and Vuqube Auto both look like good systems but I'd like some real world experience. If you have either of these units, what do you think? Also what TV do you connect to? The Avtex TVs look good and there are some bundle deals on offer but how good is the sound. There is lots about picture quality but nothing I can find about sound quality. Any/all advice much appreciated, Thanks in advance
  3. Thank you to everyone for all the tips. I have the 12 volt bible from a previous life in yachts. As suggested, very good but outdated as no reference to 240v circuits, inverters or modern charging systems. I agree that the internet (and this forum) is going to be a great resource but sometimes it's nice to sit down with a book....the Pat Manley book sounds like it is worth exploring. Special mention for smileypete's foil cat hat. Watch this space!
  4. My first post as a new member. All comments/help much appreciated. We've just bought our first narrowboat after many years as hirers. I'm now trying to get my head around what we've bought! I'm making progress but the electrics are leaving me stumped. The boat is well equipped with 12v, 240v, shore power, victron 1500w inverter/charger etc. and lots of wires! Can anyone suggest a good book to help me understand what it all is and how it all works?
