  1. Hello everyone. I have a home mooring on the Leeds Liverpool in West Lancashire. My SR2 developed an oil leak around the cylinder head joint where the rods, pipes etc run so I took a look, On disassembly I noticed one of the injectors seemed to be carbonised much more than the other. There has been recently a slight degradation in the starting (used to be first or second turn) and a bit more smoke (not black or blue smoke, something in between). The engine oil (Morris) looks and smells ok (aware of the fuel leakage issues on this engine). I would really appreciate if there is someone recommended in the area who is prepared to spend a bit of time with me (suitably remunerated) just to go over things and take a look to see if everything is in order and help to reassemble as I don't have a torque wrench.
  2. Sorry didn’t know what PM stood for need to get to grips with all this. Thanks anyway. Ok Arthur thanks
  3. Thanks again folks I’ll do a bit of homework on it and get some relevant tools and spares and oils together. Also speak to the RCR and see what they say. Cheers again.
  4. Thanks folks relatively new to this game so just asking. Rebuilt the boat from scratch so proficient at most things but engines and gearboxes do me in. It’s a lister SR2 with LH150 box. I’ll have to ask the RCR about it. Cheers.
  5. Is there any alternative to River Canal Rescue.
  6. Thanks but it doesn’t allow me to edit it. That’s where the problem lies.
  7. How can I change the account email address. I can see it in the accounts section but it won’t let me edit it. Thanks.
  8. Need an electrical schematic diagram for my boat. Very basic. Does anyone have an opinion on using separate battery isolators or a 1 2 both switch. Also does the starter motor solenoid circuit need fusing. Thanks.
  9. Thanks to everyone for their posts. Not that mechanically inclined so think I’m on a looser here. Inherited the Boat so might flog it on to a lister enthusiast. Cheers.
  10. Thanks. Tempted with the Isuzu. Anyone want to buy an SR2.
  11. Difficult to say. The vibration seems not to be noticeably any better at higher revs however it may be smoother cruising on a third throttle but after a while it becomes a little irritating. The work on the engine certainly cured starting issues and smoking. Does anyone have the weight info I was asking about thanks
  12. I have just had the top end done. New rings and a new valve. Injectors were tested. It starts fine firing second turnover. The guy who did it seemed to know what he was doing and paid a lot of attention to clearances etc. The boat is steel hulled and the engine is bolted to I beams and spaced with what seems like hardwood. The main problem is resonance at certain revs. There are a couple of Rev points where it cancels out. There is also an underlying vibration throughout the range. I need to recheck the shaft alignment when I get time.
  13. R&D Marine are the only ones I can find that provide the coupling. The engine is indeed bolted down securely and there is a lot of vibration.
  14. I need this to select suitable flexible engine mounts if anyone can help. If anyone has done this what was used? Also I assume a flexible shaft coupling is needed. Thanks
  15. Thanks again to all those suggestions. I was aware of clause 244 from an internet search, but put this forum out to see if there was anything else out there that was known about. I'll play a softly softly approach to the CRT for the time being as there's no rush. I'll also contact the police next week. They did come round with a few rags to soak up the oil, but sloped shoulders entirely on the re-floating bit. A question to you all is how is the CRT funded. Do they receive funds from the state and if so who are they answerable to. Regards.
  16. Many thanks for all your suggestions. As a newbie to all this it seems I have a lot to learn about how the system operates. As an update, the CRT have recently responded saying they are attempting to contact the owner and will be in touch to arrange access to the boat? They said, as mentioned, that they could not part with any owner info due to data protection. If this drags on much longer though I will have a word with the police as suggested and see what they say. If the owner does appear and wants the boat back I have no idea what costs I could rightfully claim and what would happen if they refused to pay. If no owner can be found, I guess then that the next thing would be this 'S.8' I don't know what it is but I guess the CRT will be the point of contact. However if they don't go down this route then it's back to the police. Until it's all sorted I can't use the boat due to insurance issues. Don't want to take any chances there. Will keep you all updated. Thanks again.
  17. A boat has been unattended for at least 2 years and has drifted off its moorings several times, being re-moored by passers by and in general being a nuisance. It also was taking on water. A few weeks ago after strong winds it drifted within a stones throw of my back garden which backs onto the canal (with mooring rights). With the aid of a canal trust member I secured it on my mooring. There was already a foot of water inside. I went on hols for a week and returned to find it had sunk entirely. As it was secured against my mooring it was resting on the bottom. Most of it was flooded but the edges were out of water. The canal trust were slow to react naturally as it was out of the way on my mooring. Promises of helping to re float it never materialized despite them visiting a few times with mixed messages about what had happened. After contacting them several times about finding the owner, a month later I still have no idea who it belongs to. In the meantime I hired a pump for £15 and managed to re float it. In general it seems in good order and seems only to have taken on water through an extended period of neglect. By all accounts it seems nobody is interested in the boat, least of all the canal trust. I am now thinking in terms whether I can take it on. Someone mentioned claiming salvage rights. I have proof that I was the one who recovered the boat. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I should proceed.
