  1. Yes. I was looking at their recommendations for the new ones out there. They seem to get a bit of discount too.
  2. Great thanks. Found this site too got some good info can be adapted for boats https://www.vanlifeuksurvivorsguide.co.uk/post/tried-and-tested-diesel-heaters-3-0-2022-2023
  3. I am looking to get a 2kw diesel heater for my 30ft cruiser style narrowboat. Firstly could anyone advise if 2 rather than 5 is sufficient for a relatively small boat. Also is there a preferred make to go for or more to the point not to get. Mixed reviews on some. Thanks.
  4. I’m interested in the phone/router interface too please
  5. Thanks for your replies didn’t know about the legal aspect. I think I noticed somewhere it stated their device was legal which confused me at the time. My existing thoughts were to save cash by using my existing available phone data. Alas as with anything you get what you pay for. Cheers.
  6. New to boating I bought a smart tv and took out an unlimited data contract with 'three' with a view to using my phone as a hotspot to watch iplayer etc. Works ok but buffers in poor signal areas. Been looking at mobile network signal boosters and came across a few such as Nikrans LCD-300GD which claims to give 5 bars in poor areas. Wondered if anyone has experience of such devices. Regards Richard
  7. What’s the date of your thread Arthur
  8. At the moment I’m using Morris 10/40 multi grade but was suggested to use HD30 mono grade. Can anyone advise. Cheers.
  9. Your right. I tried Jump leads and couldn’t get any turnover. So a new starter battery is now on the list. Cheers.
  10. Fitted new solenoid ok. Still same problem. Noticed however that starter battery voltmeter reading falls off the scale when starting. Changed everything over to the fairly new service battery bank. Voltmeter reading drops slightly on starting. Still same problem however it seems more intermittent. Conclusion that starter needs attention however problem may be exacerbated by a weak battery. Have been advised elsewhere that for large twin engines the battery needs to be tip top. Will keep new solenoid in place as it does help the starter button. Thanks to all 👍
  11. Got the part off aes but no instructions. Contacted them but wondering if you could confirm how to wire in. Cheers.
  12. Checked that Arthur it’s fine.
  13. I used a large screwdriver to short across. May try another (newer) battery.
  14. Bypassed everything with a direct battery feed and using that to activate the solenoid. Still same problem so I guess it’s internal. It seems however to be less frequent.
  15. That’s the idea Tracy May as well while I’m at it. Cheers. Cheers. Hitting the buy now button…..
  16. Great thanks will get on to it. Let you know. Sorry still can’t see it. What’s it’s part name.
  17. Can’t find it have you a link. May as well upgrade to this anyway. Cheers.
  18. Great thanks will get on to it. Let you know.
  19. When I press the start button I hear a click but no movement. After repeating this a few times normal operation occurs. Turnover seems strong with no starting problems. Battery is good. When I just get a click, if I don’t release the button quickly or press it again repeatedly without a few seconds break it can blow the 30A fuse. Any ideas please. Just to add it doesn’t always do this and engages first time. Problem has been there for ages just learned to live with it and have a bag of fuses to hand.
  20. Hi thanks to everyone for replying. I’ve checked the breathers I think one may have been blocked however both clear now. No smoke coming out internally. Waiting for new cover gaskets to arrive then I’ll check the pressure from the dipstick outlet. I like the comment that no leak means run out of oil. Maybe I’ll use a drip tray and every now and then just pour it back in! Let you know. Cheers.
  21. My SR2 started to blow oil from the D rings between the Head and the opening for the rods/ fuel pipes etc. I disassembled and reassembled the head making sure the seals were in good order and clamped everything back down accordingly. Starting is good. A small oil patch is still weeping out in the same area on both head joints. Talking to the helpful chap from Lister spares.co.uk he said it might be pressure in the crank case caused by warn piston rings. When I take one of the caps off that expose the decompression arm I can feel air blowing out. Do any of you gurus have a take on this. Cheers.
  22. Has anyone used this to power their Lister.
