  1. SAT JULY 25TH – THE FEATHERS, RICKMANSWORTH 6.00 pm – Clean Show. Over 12’s 8.15 pm – Over 18’s SUN JULY 26TH - THE WATERS EDGE, COWLEY, UXBRIDGE 7.30 PM Tickets: http://www.angryboater.com New Video from the Apsley Homecoming Show: http://www.angryboater.com/?page_id=38 SHOW DETAILS: Before becoming The Angry Boater, Joel Sanders grew up in Hillingdon, ran a successful comedy club in Ruislip, headlined leading comedy venues across the USA & lived happily at his flat in Watford. One day, on a bit of a whim, he bought a boat in Uxbridge and moved it up the canal to Hemel Hempstead. HE HAD NEVER BEEN SO HAPPY! So what went wrong? For one weekend only, Joel brings his 5 star rated comedy show back to the area where he spent his formative years (went shopping sometimes). Living the dream or surviving a nightmare? What’s it REALLY like living on a canal boat? Determined from an early age to prove his father wrong (“Jews Don’t Live on Boats”), 20 years on, Joel struggles to do just that …. full time … with zero practical skills … and a short temper. During its 2015 residency in East London, as well as consistently giving the show 5 star ratings, here’s what real audience members said about ‘Angry Boater Live': “Entertainment for boaters, boating curious’ and … simply a good night for anyone who wants to meet diverse & interesting people and have a laugh. Joel connects with the audience, engaging with every single person, before during and after the performance… making this a really personal and memorable experience.” “Great midweek show, very entertaining and a nice informal relaxed atmosphere.” “Amusing anecdotes and life stories – half centred around canal boat living. The Jewish angst added to the eccentricity of it all. Highly recommend for a pleasant evening.” “I was expecting someone really angry and sort of scary. Joel Sanders is a very funny guy with a nice evening of stories to tell…. he chats with his audience but never victimises them.”
  2. Thanks Trina If you have an arts centre / studio theatre near you, perhaps let them know you'd be interested in seeing me there . If a venue knows there's a demand, that might facilitate the spark of interest to make a show happen in your doorstep.
  3. Nice article in today's Watford Observer re: this weekend's shows. http://m.watfordobserver.co.uk/news/13355863.A_boater_s_life_isn___t_all_plain_sailing/
  4. I'll be live on Nick Coffer's radio show at 1 pm today discussing Angry Boater and this weekend's shows . You can listen online at: http://www.bbc.co.uk/threecountiesradio The frequencies are: 104.5 MK, 103.8 Beds, 95.5 Herts
  5. The first two shows away from London take place next weekend. On Saturday, June 27th, it's on at The Crystal Palace, Berkhamsted and on Sunday, June 28th, Ye Olde Red Lion in Apsley / Nash Mills / Hemel. Both rooms are very small (hold less than 40 people) - please book ahead if you want to come. The Sunday will be particularly interesting as Apsley is where I started my boating life and some of the show is focussed on the marina and its 'characters.' Both shows start at 7.30 pm. Tickets are £10 from.... http://www.angryboater.com
  6. Angry Boater Live - Penultimate London show this Tuesday night (May 12th). 11 tickets remain atm. The final show will be a fundraiser in conjunction with C&RT for their 'Stratford 2 Stratford' project on Thurs, May 28th. Full details at http://www.angryboater.com I'll be taking the show up the GU & into the nether from June.....
  7. The London run ends soon. I'll be heading up the canal this summer and taking the show into the Nether. If you're around the metropolis next Tuesday (21st) though, feel free to use this secret link for £5 tickets. http://www.wegottickets.com/sct/vtaUMCzym9
  8. There are just a handful of Angry Boater London shows left this season before I take the show up the canal & into the Nether. If you'd like to come next week (Tues, April 21st), here's a secret link for half price tickets. Feel free to share amongst friends: http://www.wegottickets.com/sct/vtaUMCzym9
  9. It's a beautiful day. Why relax in a beer garden when you could be inside watching a Jew with hypertension talking about boats? 'Angry Boater Live' tonight - 8 pm @ The Barge House, Haggerston. Tickets at: http://www.angryboater.com
  10. Your comment is evidence that you're right. You appear to be the only moaning angry person on here. Well done on still using "records" as reference point. Next time you download your thoughts to your keyboard though, try to keep on topic. I'm double moored in West London atm. It does take some getting used but I can honestly say - having double moored in London many times - it's never been an issue ... and I'm very noise sensitive. People are very considerate here, for the most part.
  11. It's a story I was told before I first came here and the boater who shared it believed it to be true. I'm curious what other perceptions boaters who avoid London have about boating in the capital.
  12. Before I first came to London by boat, I heard all kinds of stories from boaters about why they would never come here. I remember one experienced boater warning me, "London is full of desperate people. Half the boaters there will cut your ropes to take your mooring." Ridiculous! It's at least 70 percent. What horror stories about boating in London have you heard?
  13. There is currently a small audience for tomorrow's 'Angry Boater' show at The Barge House in Haggerston. The First Law of Economics states that demand increases when the price drops. Let's see. I've been revamping the show all week and, tomorrow, I'm trying it in a new way for the first time. Might improve it. Could be messy. If you've booked to see the show before and would like to come again this Tuesday, please PM me with your previous booking details and I'll have a pair of freebies waiting for you. If you haven't seen it before and would like to come tomorrow, for every ticket you book, I'll give you another one for free.. Just PM me here after you've booked so I know to make the amendment. The offer is for online bookings only. Elton John never does this. Tickets here: https://www.wegottickets.com/event/313187
  14. New video footage from last week's show - 'The Psycho Geese of Berkhamsted.' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=slmW0K_p4-E&feature=youtu.be
  15. Pleased to say that my Angry Boater shows have been extended until the end of May. I'll be continuing at The Barge House in Haggerston every Tuesday night. Link to a clip from last week's show is below: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mZWr9sM9agc&spfreload=10
  16. The trouble with cute jokey boat names is that they are only cute & jokey the first time you see them . After that short term novelty factor has worn off, you're stuck with it.
  17. What is your boat's naff name ?
  18. During the heatwave in the summer of 2013, i was waiting to enter a lock on the Thames near Reading. when a 5/6 ft snake swam past. I do not know what kind of snake it was but it's the only time I've ever seen a wild snake in the UK. I was very excited .
  19. Rumour has it that it's bad luck to change the name of your boat whilst it's in the water. Given the cost of taking a boat out of the water, this rumour was probably started by people who own cranes.
  20. The final 2 Angry Boater shows in the run - this Tues, March 10th plus 17th at The Barge House, Haggerston. If you've been already, my latest blog might be of interest. It's about the show - the process of making it happen, the ups & downs + a few memorable highlights. http://www.angryboater.com
  21. I understand that but I'm still keen to know whether those who support the guidance think it can realistically be sustained in this current form?
  22. Obviously, there are boaters here who favour this initiative. I'm curious whether those in favour believe it is right, fair or sensible for the guidance NOT to specify distance.... and why?
  23. The blue is a quote from someone else's post. The red is my response. It formatted strangely due to my incompetence.
