  1. Thanks Mike, and Barry, although my joke was that there is only one canal here and so secrecy is difficult! I have already learned so much today - how to leave a post - how to edit all errors in said post - that the boating world is plagued with axe murderers!
  2. Thanks Barry! Very good advice indeed! From now on it shall be 'a canal in the North of Scotland'
  3. Helloo! I am an absolutely brand-spanking-new member. Have decided to purchase a residential mooring on the Caledonian Canal and would be very grateful of any advice - or to hear anyone's experiences. Am looking to purchase a boat now of course and, as narrowboats are not allowed I am looking at river cruisers. I have seen a number of broads-cruiser style vessels and wondered if these would be appropriate for use up north?! Have been thoroughly enjoying trawling the forums on here - much invaluable advice
  4. Hello all - I am absolutely brand new to your website - and to boating! Having recently decided to purchase a residential mooring in the North of Scotland. I am now looking to buy my new home. BUT narrowboats are not allowed and so I am looking at river cruiser liveaboards and have been considering broads-cruiser style vessels. Anyone have experience of the peculiarities of Scottish canals and lochs and advice on suitable vessels? Any advice would be most gratefully received!!
  5. Hello Lady Boaters! This is my first post on your fine website and so 'fingers crossed' I'm going about things correctly. After much to-ing and fro-ing I have decided to purchase a residential mooring in the North of Scotland. I now need to purchase my new home! Having very little (ahem ... actually, no) experience of boats and boating I am trying to find as much information as possible. And so ... for the completely inexperienced (but enthusiastic ) young lady boater who will have a boat to herself... what should I know or be thinking about? Is there any lady-specific advice or concern I should be aware of? ANY advice will be most gratefully received!
