  1. just like to thank everyone for input on my question regarding the boat i was looking at, i could have been buying a lot of trouble not only in the boat itself, but as it turns out the place where the boat is moored is of concern,i would have had no idea if it hadn't been for your help thank you phil
  2. thanks for the swift replies, the boat in question is called avalon, and is at pillings dock marina,it's on e,bay, and more photos are on there facebook page,if anyone can take the time to look at this and perhaps pick up on any negative or indeed positive things i would be very gratefull.

    2 pack

it's no wonder it lasts so much longer but the trade off is obviously the money you save not having to lift the boat out so frequently, thanks for the quick replies, much appreciated

how much about is the 2 pack epoxy paint for blacking? and how much approx would you need for a 45ft boat?thank you, phil.
  5. just wondered if anyone could perhaps list the best and not necessarily the worst, but maybe the ones which a newcomer like myself would be wise to avoid, because of inexperience in knowing what to look for.in the last two weeks i've learnt so much about narrow boats i can't believe it! at the moment i'm looking at a boat with a hudson shell, but can't find out a lot about them, anyone any experience of these? thank you, phil.
  6. thanks for your replies it now sounds obvious but just didn't know
  7. Just wondered were washing up water, sink water etc went and how it is disposed of
  8. Are currently looking for our first boat and amongst things to have or not have calorifier keeps cropping up. What is it and what is it's purpose thank you
  9. thanks,i take it you're refering to regular blacking ,anodes etc? also is it best to buy private to get the most for your money ? or is this a risky move in the boating world?i.e.can you in general trust most boat owners as long as they have certificates etc? thanks ,will do that now.
  10. hi,there,i've just found this forum and it's hopefully going to answer a load of questions for us.Our daughter is about to buy a narrowboat to semi-live on,she has aquired a high usage mooring on a good marina, which has the usual facilities for running and maintaining a boat,so that side of it is sorted. Our main problem is buying the right boat,i initialy thought the newer the boat the better but in looking this is obviously not the case,i've seen an age diff of as much as 15yrs with the price being almost the same,i can understand you get better made boats just like cars etc,but with one of the main problems being the condition of the steel etc i can't understand how a boat that much older can be worth the same.was there a point in time where steel wasof a better quality?or am i missing something that's probably obvious?i would really appreciate any help as the last thing we want to do is buy trouble through ignorance.thank you.phil
