  1. There must be some rough boaters out there!Try a bowl of water in the sink and at the end of the day see how much water you have lost? next day try same bowl with clingfilm on? An aquarium with an internal lip should stop most spills with a plastic or glass lid should stop all spills except head on crashes ? Just make sure aquarium is on a good solid surface. My problem is finding a 12volt heater thermostat.

  2. Main information needed is how many Amps you have taken out of battery. The best way for this information is to install a battery management panel which shows Amps out of Battery, then when charging you will see Amps going back into battery by the figure reducing back to zero. Two manufacturers are NASA £100 ish and Sterling £200 ish .My experience when unknown to me fridge was running continuous was I needed to run engine for 5 hours so hopefully you will need less running time.I hope this helps.Regards to how many batteries then it is dependant on alternator size AMPs times 10 is a good rule so 30 Amp alternator will be ok for 300amp total

  3. Why do we pay VAT on our licence surely this like the National Trust is a membership fee entitling us to use and visit all areas .

Charities are supposed to be exempt VAT I do not expect a reduction in cost but 20% going into CRT budget for improvements and on the ground staffing would be good

  4. I have a £2:59 usb fan from Amazon I use my Kindle 230v charger plug when in marina but use a 12v car socket usb adaptor when out .

The fan draws negligible amps and does a terrific job .

I am looking at using one in kitchen roof vent as an extractor boost when cooking will be a bit more costly as I will need a 12v car socket and 12v usb adaptor permanently wired in .

  5. spray foam insulation on the sensor line can help stop this problem.

With regards to costs generally rip off price boat fridges are only for casual use so do not comply with energy requirements I am now looking for a A+ energy rated larder fridge have heard a rumour that Inlander use 230v fridges and convert them to 12v so will go down this route unless you know more

  6. I don't know how your hot water system works, But I have a Beko which is a cold fill only.

However I have a gas water heater so have connected the water feed to the hot feed and marked the temperature switch for temperature position it is very rare if electric heater comes on .

Those with Hot water tanks could maybe use a temperature mixer tap .

Always best to not draw too much electric from Battery.

  7. When they where first out (2011) I paid £3 from midland chandlers now because people have realised the benefits they are generally 3 times the price .

Just another example of chandlers ripping off boat owners.

Thank you the Internet for competition
