This season we are looking to explore the Western end of the Kennet and Avon. As we prefer the security of a Marina we are looking for a suitable spot West of the Devizes flight. There are several options I know and Caen Hill Marina seems to be popular (looks busy from the canal) but everyone we meet has very negative comments (strange considering recent awards). Can anyone shed any light on this? So far our experience with marina staff and facilities has been Fantastic, it would be a shame to get it wrong now. Any thoughts welcome. Thank You in advance!!

Hello Everyone! Does anyone on here know with any amount of certainty which shade of green is used by Anglo Welsh? I have bought a narrowboat recently that until last year was in their fleet and although the long term aim is to repaint her (that should stop the funny looks and snide comments from River Thames lock keepers) but in the short term I would like to touch up the scratches and odd rust patch and try to keep her looking tidy. Before you ask I have tried calling/emailing Anglo Welsh but unless I want to book a holiday they don't want to talk to me! Thank you in advance, Chris

We are planning to move our newly acquired narrowboat from Calcutt Marina to the Kennet and Avon over the upcoming Easter holiday, We are not complete novices and have in the past been on the Severn (In June travelling upstream). Obviously the damp winter has had a huge effect on the system and the Thames in particular, currently there are yellow and red warnings between Oxford and Reading but these seem to be decreasing BY THE DAY! If there are no stream warnings by the time we get to Oxford around the 17th of April can we expect a gentle, tranquil cruise or will it still be like a white water rafting experience on the Zambezi? I appreciate that travelling downstream is more tricky than against the current but should I be worried, concerned or just wary of any particular dangers? Should I in fact not consider this journey at all until later this Spring or might it be fine? Your thoughts please TIA Chris.
