  1. Hello helpful folks, In preparation for the winter months ahead could someone advise the following? A small 12v pump to push the hot water from the stove along the 3 radiaters attached to the back boiler? It was responsive to a thermal dial that activated the pumo when it reached certain pre set temps. I think the one we had was quite old but is small and cylinderical. Any thoughts anyone on where I could one similar? Thanks
  2. Hey Folks, Can anyone recommend best procedures in changing oil for a BMC 1.5? After running engine and pumping out the oil with only few drops left I wondered following... -do I clean out the system with anything before replenishing the engine with new oil? - how much oil is expected to be withdrawn from the engine for a BMC 1.5? ( I pulled out roughly 2.5 litres of oil) Thanks for your advice in advance! Deef
  3. Hey Guys, Can any recommend a hull surveyor to come and look at our boat that is to be taken out of water for blacking next month. We will be at Stanstead Abbot for this and would greatly appreciate any recommendations. Thanks, D
  4. Again more battery problems... These were 3x110 amp leisure new since summer. They now have a reading of 12.3 after a long battle to keep them up well above the safety of 12.4. After some recent hell with hull rust damage and faulty engines it is now the batteries which is making me cross eyed. Questions are.. 1. Is there anything that can be done to revive these batteries? 2. What are people's thoughts on traction batteries? Are these better for running pumps and stereos? 3.what leisure type batteries could you recommend? There looks like some bad state cables interconnecting these blighted batteries too- do people tend to use really thick cables to connect them up? Thanks for any advice in advance. D
  5. Hey there Folks, I am having a bit of a nightmare - can anyone help? Having some time off work to look into engine problems I was advised to give a thorough cleaning of the engine bay ( something I have wanted to do for a while now) After brushing up the debris in the sump I noticed I was pulling up large clumps of rust from the inside of the hull. Some of these affected areas were moist and not likely to be affected by the leaky water tank issue I was originally trying to resolve. After some disbelieving moments I realised that the hull is leaking in river water at the water line of the inside hull of the boat. Not gushing in but these clumps were clearly wet from the river. Can anyone advise me what I should do... obviously I need to get it resolved very quickly but would this mean re plating the outside parts? Would Car filler work from the inside or something else that can handle being put into very wet conditions to seal up areas affected by the rust? Its due for survey and inspection in 2014 anyway but should I be very concerned right now to do something? Scrap that- I am really worried already so can anyone gently offer helpful advice to someone who is worried that there home is on a steady decline to the river bed? Thanks Deef
