  1. Thanks for all your help everyone. I shall start trying to learn to be more technical, and have a read up, and hopefully shouldn't have to deal with too many chilly showers!
  2. Sorry Mike I am not very technical! Will check the header tank. We supposedly can turn the water heater on once the engine/ inverter is on. However every time I try to do this, the inverter cuts out because (I assume) the water heater has pulled all the power out of the batteries and even with the engine on, they cannot recharge quick enough. Sorry to not be more specific / use the right terms but that's all I know. Thanks
  3. Hi All, We have a Morso Squirrel stove with a back boiler. We are having a few issues getting hot water out of it. Sometimes the stove will have only been on for an hour, and we get hot water, other times it will be on for hours (and hot) but no hot water. We have tried changing the temperature settings for when the pump will kick in, tried high and lower, but can't seem to figure it out. Does anyone know much about them who could advise us? I'm a bit fed up of having cold showers now. We also have a calorifer but even with the engine running this drains too much power. Thanks
  4. Hi all, Our Thetford Cassette toilet flush is constantly dripping, meaning our tank is getting full rather quickly, and it's also leaking down into the underneath space (missing the tank) Anyone else had this problem or know how to fix it? Thanks
  5. Probably easier to take the recycling to a nearby relatives house and put it in their household recycling. Especially useful if you have a sister that's quite specific about recycling and will sort it for you! Thanks Andy!
  6. Sorry if this is an obvious answer, but we are new to this! Are there recyling points at pump out / Elsan / waste disposal points? Or do we need to take it to a recycling centre? Thanks
  7. Thanks for all this info guys! Will talk to my boyfriend later, but think we will probably opt for the one plan. We tend to download things and then watch them. I just want the ease of knowing we won't ever go over a limit (such as 15gb) Anyone around the K+A Bath / Bradford - on Avon area - whats the signal like?
  8. Thanks! Although trying to translate a lot of this tech speak is a bit tricky for me! So lots of people get a dongle, but then buy an arial too, to increase signal? I'm leaning towards tethering with a phone, as it seems to get a more consistent signal? The One Plan from Three allows tethering (unlike most) and would be the most cost efficient... I think!
  9. Sorry if this has been posted before! We are trying to work out the bext internet option for our new narrowboat. I know a lot of people use dongles, however the maximum they seem to offer is 15gb per month (with Three), but I don't think that would be enough for us. The other option I think is the One Plan with Three, Sim only deal with unlimited data, and then we could buy a cheap tethering capable phone and use that. My issue is with the sim only plan, can we still download films etc? Does anyone have any experience on this? And would the speed of the internet be ok (so long as we had signal) We don't want to just tether from our current plans because we don't have much data allowance on them. I've also read about 3g routers, but don't really understand them! Any advice would be much appreciated! Thanks
  10. Hi all, We are in the process of buying our first narrowboat. Survey is being done next week! Hopefully having her brought down from Rugby the week after, unfortunately due to time restrictions we're going to have to get her craned out and transported on a lorry (nervracking!) We're really excited, but it's a pretty new thing for us! We have lived in a caravan for a few months so know we can manage with less space. Any advice to new cruisers would be much welcome! Anyone got any vital tips / advice we should know before stepping aboard? We will be CC-ing for the first year at least, possibly longer if we like it like that, if not might hunt for a mooring spot somewhere! Thanks
