  1. Hi yep the marina owned it so would need to check before doing anything!! I have the grips that go on your shoes but forgot all about them thanks MtB will dig them out ?
  2. Brilliant thanks everyone
  3. Hi guys thanks for the answers so far, the pontoon only has grips on half way up the side of the boat, and when leaving the boat this morning the frost on the wood was very slippery and before it gets worse wanted to put a solution into place. I need to leave the boat every morning to get to work so can't wait till it defrosts unfortunately
  4. Hi all can I please ask how do people in marina's over the winter cope with ice on the pontoons?? Is there a way to make them less slippery?, thought of rock salt but it wouldn't be good for the wildlife! Any hints and tips please?
  5. Thanks guys I have will have a go at washing it down with a de-greaser I have ventilated the boat a couple of times and still there so think need to clean it thoroughly and then fingers crossed!! or will be weaving along the cut
  6. Help please guys, Had an engineer replace my engine a few weeks back and accidentally left the tap for the diesel on overnight so some drained into the engine bay. Its been washed out but the smell of diesel is still very strong inside the boat. What is the best way to get rid of the smell inside? and should I clean the engine bay with anything special?? (Bildge cleaner etc??) Think it needs sorting asap as a friend came round to visit and had to leave after an hour as complaining of headache from the diesel fumes, what is it doing to me sleeping in the fumes!!
  7. Well don't often post as one of the those newbies who would rather read the information available than ask questions and get abuse. Pauls books, clac and forums are all perfect for someone starting out, and not gullible dreaming of a boat, bought one because Pauls information made it a lot less scary!! So thanks Paul :-)
  8. The Quote option doesn't seem to be working.. @Athy The RCR is a good call and will definitely look into, especially if not the other AA @ RLWP Thanks very much am looking forward to it if a little nervous lol @ Luctor You are a star!! Was advised by a chap talking to down marina to check on anchor that comes with boat to make sure its suitable and completely forgot till now
  9. Good idea will make myself a list!! Port is a must, but it goes in my Guinness
  10. The engine has had a service yep so fingers crossed lol Thanks very much for the offer of help, will give you a shout if need to Wish I had sorted it for April not mid winter lol People have said to me about the water levels, and they do worry me, but its the bit down the Severn which I am not looking forward too! I will get in touch with ANT straight away thanks very much for that As long as I get past Stratford I will be happy chap as can go back and do bits over weekends once its closer, well fingers crossed lol
  11. Well at last I have a boat and need to get it down to my mooring! I can't afford to transport it down by road and only time I have off is over Xmas, my first day of travel will be Xmas day. I will be setting off from by Braunston and heading up Grand Union, down Stratford Upon Avon through to Tewksbury then down the Severn to the Gloucester & Sharpness Canal to my mooring at Saul. The first couple of days I will be on my own then I hope friends will be joining me for short spells to give me a hand when they can. I have checked for stoppages etc and can't see anything when I will be traveling but any and all advice you guys can give will be much appreciated!! Cheers
  12. Ohhh better mention this to guys on allotment see if they still want to us it
  13. I give all my ash from fireplace at home to the local allotments they love it, find someone with a nice garden near by and offer it to them
  14. Hi all, well update as requested I did go and see it and didn't go for it. Too many things could have gone wrong and plenty more lovely boats to go visit till find the right one :-)
