We have a roller blind fitted above the bow doors, it's practical, easy to use and keep clean.

I have just returned from a rather stressful trip this AM, so wouldn't it be a very good idea if some could stop the name calling and rather abusive replies.
-
Can appreciate the work, but it's not my taste.

Have merged both topics.

Since the queries have been answered in the previous topic, may I lock this one now?

I think I have seen when studying hoses at B&Q (I know should get out more) that a couple stated when reading the labels 'suitable for drinking water' but as I said above we have only ever used the garden type hose. If you are really worried then you could always fit one of these Seagull water filters to be used for drinking water.
-
e bay seem to have them, though not in GB

although we have always used the garden type hoses with no problems and many, many boaters do use them.

i have read that the budget for 2005-6 is £4million on dredgeing,it says it is a 60%increase on this years spend.
the intention is to concentrate on lengths used most so the benefits are enjoyed by the greater numbers.
surveys and complaints from customers will be used to assess where dredgeing is done.
I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you, it is now 6 years since we were told our very busy stretch of the T&M was in line for dredging, first within the next 3 years and then within the next 5, the bottom is getting nearer to the top each year and still no signs.

So would I be right in thinking that from Northwich to Manchester lock nine i think it is where Barca is that none of this is actually British Waterways?
So if i have my BW licence but get pulled on the Bridgewater what happens?
More importantly AM I insured fi an accident happens?
Thanks.
With just a BW licence you are allowed to travel on the Bridgewater, if I remember rightly it is for 7 days, since the canal is not very long and it actually starts around Preston Brook and goes all the way to Wigan in one direction and to the Rochdale in another, unless you spend a couple of weeks or more there you have no problems. I doubt if things are checked on this canal anyway, but we never spend anymore than 5/6 days on the Bridgewater since we left our moorings there over 10 years ago.

So do you really expect us to believe that you walk all the way down the towpath and empty your cassette out eh? cmon and that you walk to the refuse point and empty all your rubish as well ? sorry i dont believe you and by the look of your boats they are just as scruffy inside as out ! so dont try that one as we all know you tax dodgers ,will stop at nothing to stick two fingers up at us who pay and try to do the right thing.
I'm afraid that your remarks can be considered as extremely offensive so may I politely suggest before this topic goes any further that you read this.

Thank you.

Yes John that certainly describes the British grass snake, although most have a yellow 'collar' some can be just a dark grey/brown in colour.

A pike can definitely demolish a small duckling with no problems at all. We saw it happen fairly recently. Mum was swimming with 10 and suddenly one disappeared, quickly dragged down by a huge pike never to be seen again.

We have used these since they were first 'brought out' several years ago and do find them extremely secure. The design has changed slightly since then and I must confess the ones we have do seem much more robust.

I was sitting in an armchair and just about to take a sip when the boat roared past at top speed, others were also moored nearby and many had their pins pulled out by the thoughtless boater. Since we have owned a boat for over 20 years I think I know the ropes and am certainly not inexperienced into the how's and why's when boating.

You can have dual licences. Years ago when we were based on the Bridgewater and were rather ignorant of the fact, we only had a Bridgewater licence and were pulled up when doing the 4 counties ring by the control at the southern end of the Harecastle. After a little persuasion he did let us continue but we were reported to BW.
On arrival home we then applied for a BW licence via the Manchester Ship canal Co, which was supplied at a reduced cost. So yes the Bridgewater licence does only cover certain distances.

Well ours has, and I almost scalded myself with a cup of hot coffee. It was a boat going past at top speed, and when I shouted at him to please slow down he looked at me as if I was the one in the wrong.

She and her OH now are moored permanently at Anderton Marina. If it's the same person she also does canalware and boat decoration.
