  1. We haven't had any trouble with the 3 signal as yet but others i no say its been a pain. Just wondering if we can set something up in case it arises. We don't enjoy standard TV and use the internet as a way to watch DVD's and get the news etc.
  2. Wow! Clever idea. Thanks for sharing We are on 3 network. Tied into a contract too.. another year to go.. booo!
  3. Hi , I have internet via a dongle. Is there a way to boost the signal at all? Seems some places are better than others. Is there some sort of box you can put on the roof or do we have to get a very long USB cable and put the dongle on a long pole?? Not great with the technical computer malarkey.. How do others deal with this situation?
  4. I think we will travel down the oxford route. Went over the severn bridge today and your right.. it was very choppy! Thanks for the link
  5. Its not a one off there are several here he built. All good standards and workmanship. As well as sculptures, wood burners/ ovens and other multitudes of engineering. God rest his soul.. a brilliant craftsman that left us far too soon!
  6. Haha.. yes we did that at Dukes Lock haha.. wont forget to flip them on the gunnel this time! Indeed! hope we don't need to call for.. until then..
  7. Chalk and string Hahaha.. don't worry.. ive run an precision engineering company for 35 years. Its 7 foot. It does fit through Dukes Lock as long as there is nothing jammed behind the gate (had to use a long pole to un-lodge debris already) . We've done that a few times already. A dear friend of mine who died in a car cash 4 years ago. An extremely brilliant boat builder/welder who worked there. He built several. Its had a full survey. He worked at Alchemy Boats in Oxford. No it wasn't the guy who owned the yard.
  8. Im positive its 7 feet. Time is of the essence as we cant take too much time off with the business. I will look a bit more into the severn and hiring a skipper. Does anyone have any links or info on who to contact?
  9. Thank you for all your help guys Yes im sure its 7 foot i measured it myself. I'm not sure what to do .. going up the severn sounds kind of scary! I have a cruiser stern so worried if it gets choppy and waves splash over the water will fill the engine bay. Is there a way of taping over the gaps? Its a new'ish boat only 6 yrs old. I have an isuzu 35 engine and its 57 feet long.
  10. Up the severn? I thought it was tidal? If your right that would be a great solution! Is it safe? Please give me more info if its feasable please. Thank you! Up the severn? 11. Managed to get through. He says the real problem lies at Napton and Claydon locks. The water level has to be at weir level or a 7 footer will get jammed.
  12. Great link thank you very much. What happens if we just ''go for it'' and get stuck? Ill keep trying with CRT.
  13. Hi there, We have just bought a boat in Oxford and have a mooring on the Gloucester & Sharpness. We are due to cruise it over to the mooring in a few weeks and need to find out what the lock widths are as the boat is 7 foot wide. Can anyone tell me if we may run into problems? I've been told some of the locks in Oxford are 6.8 wide? If so looks like we will have to have it taken there on a low loader. We've tried calling the trust but the man they put me through to was not there. I cant seem to find anything on google either.. Thanks in advance.
