On a different point. Does boat have a wheelhouse or not.?
Looked at a great boat on G&S then realized would jam at first brige on K&A as was fixed, not collapsible. Just a thought is all!

if cost is issue i use gas for kettle several times a day. Grill or oven most days circa 15-25 mins + pots. Cylinder lasts circa 7-8 months. This works out about£1 a week at current prices.
Diesel at £1 /lt will go thru your engine/genset at a litre an hour. Just to put things in perspective.

Wet or Air?
If wet could be air in water pump.
This causes swift temp rise that trips on overheat.
I have a generic timer so wired an led across start switch. This gives me the fault code lights.

Are you getting any warning light flashes?

During Summer personally I set off about 5am. Sun is up and have 4-5 hrs cruise with little to no 'traffic'.
Come 11-12 others are finally on the move & usually have pick of moorings [CM's permitting.]
Eastwood along long pound lovely.

Just broke my Keter after 6 years.

Buying another.

If you're fitting 4 then I'd consider wiring them in two parallel series pairs. If that sounds complicated, it's not Basically, two panels in series, plus another pair in series, then parallel the two pairs. That way, if one panel is in shade you only lower half of the output instead of the whole thing, and the voltage is still high enough for the MPPT to achieve a decent output. It's always worth arranging the wiring such that you can experiment in the future - do they work better all in series, all in parallel etc.

Hi Dave
We're in West Mills, outside Newbury on the K&A. On a nice winter mooring with all the luxuries, like ... water on tap ... and shore power.
Not far. If you go the Victron way & have issues PM me & I can lend you interface if needed.

Hi Jim.
Where is your location?
I have the interface module and a PC with the software.

Ref the holes.
A boat went under at Crofton a few years ago when levels dropped.
Upon refloating was found that the hull had several holes in above the waterline.
It appeared to be the hull had been drilled for skin fittings and then the interior was laid out differently and had skin fittings put on the other side.
The interior was lined and the unused holes were forgotten about.
Boat several years later listed in a low pound . The rest is........

Well its the way I understand/explain it is all. When cold the old knackered oil can be really thick at air temp. Like treacle.
When warm it flows nice and easy.
No doubt someone more technical will come along and argue it?
-
Reread OP.
Yep oil has gone gloopy.
Change.
Now it is colder the oil has 'thickened up' and as such makes it harder to pull start.
As soon as it starts the oil level appears to drop as it isn't returning to the sump quick enough until it warms up thus causing oil level switch to trigger.
After a couple of runs oil is thinning down with warmth and then the Genny continues to run.

Also.
Starts, runs, stops.
Does oil light flicker?
Change the oil. Check the level.
Really common as the air temp drops.
