  1. I should have come here sooner ....instead of stressing and going round in circles all morning hahaha! Thanks everyone
  2. Haha, not suggesting anything of the sort! Found one on ebay and a spare cassette - total £70 plus postage....quite happy
  3. I was worried you were gonna suggest a hole in the bottom of the boat with a plank going across Bizzard! Thank you anyway hehehehe
  4. Thanks ....just looking now
  5. Aww that's great thanks peeps! We are still only visiting the boat at weekends so at the moment we just take the cassette away and empty it before coming home ready for the next visit......all good learning though and had our first proper rainy night on Saturday. The toilet does scare me a bit though hahahahaha!
  6. Ok, I really have spent since about 9am this morning reading up on cassette toilets and I'm going to crack up if I don't give in and ask advice....I know this might bring up some typical toilet debate but hey ho...... We currently have a "Thetford Potty High" which I'm guessing is an older model because I can't find it anywhere online even with the product code. So I think it's possibly the same as the newer Thetford Potti 165 (21ltr waste capacity) ? .....We want to buy a new one and also a couple of spare cassettes but I just can't find the spare cassettes....so what do people do? Do you buy 2 whole toilet units and just swap them over or is there some secret toilet place where I can get the spare cassettes? I apologise in advance for bringing this subject up (again) and have searched the forums but I think this is a specific question that someone may be able to help me with (tried ebay, amazon and general google search and i'm getting nowhere fast!) Thanks guys

  13. Hello peeps and a very happy Sunday to you all. We got back from the boat last night and absolutely shattered but had an amazing few days on our maiden voyage! Still knackered so here is my facebook update copied and pasted (YAWWWWWN) Picked the boat up, Dean steered her beautifully out of the marina and then we got stuck in the bank....all sorted and found a 24 hour mooring. Had lunch and our first evening on the canal, saw a Kingfisher, a heron and a Tawny owl all right on our doorstep. Walked back to Devizes to get the van and head the boat up to Horton....had a mad couple on a widebeam boat coming towards us diagonally across the canal who had never sailed a boat before...managed to get past them and headed for the next bridge....turned out to be a swing bridge ARRGHHH...had to moor up on a tiny jetty, go and swing the bridge across, it got stuck half way so Dean had to use the giant boat pole to push it to the other side....back on the boat to get her through the bridge and then moored up again on the other side (whilst a friendly lady boater was chuckling away at us!)...off the boat again to swing the bridge back and then off to our destination. Every person we met was friendly and helpful with loads of information. Being next to nature every second was amazing. We learned that living on a boat is going to be hard but rewarding and my housework only took about 5 minutes! The highlight of all the brilliant experiences was meeting a little Kingfisher yesterday morning (see photos). Can't wait to get back to the boat next saturday!!!
