  1. Hi Folks read pros and cons as regards bowthrusters electric and hydraulic but can someone give me a view on the the times they have real trouble with their widebeam Thanks Pierre
  2. Has anyone had a boat built and fitted pipes and cables etc after all the fitments and fittings have been put in place including floors and bulk heads to ensure 100% access to all motors, joints, relays, switches, pumps, valves etc. it seems most boats tend to be fitted out after cables etc have been put in place.
  3. I am definately having solid fuel stove, however as this is 57ft x 10'6 new build nb i am trying to make sure as much as possible that i cover all eventualities, so i am thinking about spring and autumn mornings and evenings..........when it is a little chilly also i like the idea of being able to set the heating to come on in a morning and convience..........so i am thinking that as it is being built, why not have the choice and the benfit of different fuels etc.
  4. My reason is because it is important that the boat is warm in the morning (in winter) and from what i understand to have to stove hot in the morning i would have to be able to keep it lit all night with plenty of coal in it? i thought gas/alde was more expensive than diesel? also can i run hot water from the stove and from the diesel central heating?
  5. can i install a multi fuel stove such as a squirral with a back boiler to heat the radiators and also install a diesel fired central heating system such as a webasto or hurrican to use when the stove is not lit? i am wanting to have the option of cheaper heating most of the time but the convienence of diesel heating when needed.
  6. Thanks for the response glad to know im doing it right........sort of!!! You have have given me food for thought with your comments. We are having a utility at the stern which will be between 4 and 5ft in width and i was hoping to avoid internal steps as i haven't found a design to date for sturdy and compact steps/staircase. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
  7. has anyone got any experience or advice regarding a side hatch or door with exterior steps on a widebeam at the stern. i am new to this site so not sure i am using the forum correctly.
  8. we are new to this site and are hopefully having a widebeam livaboard built next summer we are thinking of having a side door and external steps on the cruiser stern. please can anyone give me there opinion on this design along with the pros and cons.
