  1. It's a leisure morning but we are currently gutting the boat and redesigning it. For clarification, the only time we sleep in the motorhome is when we are on holiday and not on the morning ( apart from when we fist bought it and stayed the night just for excitement sake xD)

  2. Thanks for the replies. To answer the questions

There are 2 motorhomes that use the car park both owned by berth holders,  4 large work Van's. 6 cars. The majority of which have parked here for several years.

It's a private road which according to CaRT when issues have arisen, is owned by the owner of the 2 houses at the bottom of the private road.

The parking is not near the lock. A gate was put up to stop dog walkers parking near the lock.

Yes, all vehicles are taxed/ MOT'd / insured

  3. Some advice please.

Today I received an email from my mooring manager as below.

     Dear customer

I’m writing following contact from the Regional team regarding issues with the parking area at the ******** **** end of the mooring site.

There seems to be a number of motorhomes that have been parked in the parking area recently and unfortunately motorhomes/campervans or caravans are not permitted in the parking area.  We are looking at improving signage so that it is clearer but, in the meantime, if you have a motorhome parked in parking area or know of the owners, please can they be moved off site at the earliest convenience.

I am aware that the vehicles may not be owned by mooring customers, but if you have any information about who does own them then please do let me know.

I have checked my mooring contract and it states that I can't have a caravan or trailer of any kind but doesn't mention campers etc.

We use the motorhome when we are at the boat as we are currently doing some work on it and we can cook/ have a cuppa etc in the van.

The parking area is as on the mooring details as first come first served. No allocated spaces.

I'm just wondering if anyone has any advice on where I stand in this situation?

  4.

Asking for my brothers boat which has a 1.5 BMC in it. It fires up and runs for around 5-10 seconds and then cuts out. So far we have checked the deisel ( had it cleaned due to water in the tank), the fuel pump, injectors etc. I'm now running out of ideas and would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks for reading.

Have you challenged the CRT about this, I think they can do something. I know the CRT knocked on my boat when my nameplate was not showing.

To be honest I think they should bring displaying the licence back, I've had people saying things like "loads of boats with no licence here", maybe he meant me!

Yes. It has been mentioned by myself and other moorers here to both the licence checker and the moorings manager. Nothing has been done unfortunately. Who knows what happens behind the scenes though.

Tbf...last time they tried to lift a boat here the whole town got locked down due to the piss taker threatening to blow the gas works up xD

But it *is* an issue, and  in some areas (don't know about the whole system) the number of rule-bending/breaking CMers seems to greatly exceed the number of rule-following CCers, and it's difficult/impossible for CART to enforce the rules and distinguish between them due to the sheer amount of checking needed and the number of boats flouting the rules.

As Arthur says, the only realistic way for CART to extract a chunk more money from the p*ss-taking CMers is a CC surcharge. And as several people including me have said, the "real CCers" will suffer as a consequence.

Which is not "fair" -- unless you bring use of locks etc into it, like CART have -- but the CMers have screwed it up for them... 😞

I completely agree. There are 8 boats where I moor on a C&RT mooring. There are at least 12 on the otherside of the canal the have well exceeded the 2 weeks allowed. One has been there around 9 months. Most don't have any identification i.e name or number. C&RT say they can't do anything. In the mean time my mooring and licence increases

  7. Hi

I have just sold my smaller boat, 18ft grp, as it was costing me more than it was benefiting me. I have notified C&RT to cancel the licence and mooring and their reply is below. My question is, do I have to give them this information (it was an ebay sale, I only have a ebay name), and secondly is this not a GDPR issue if I comply with this request?

    Good afternoon

    Thank you for your e-mail.

To terminate your licence and transfer the boat out of your account, we will require the new owners details. This includes their name, postal address, telephone number and e-mail address.

We will also need to know the date that you sold the boat. If you can provide these details via e-mail, we can action this for you.

To terminate your mooring agreement, you will need to send 2 months notice in writing to the moorings team. You can do this online, via e-mail or in the post. Their e-mail address is waterside.mooring-enquiries@canalrivertrust.org.uk

  8. Hi

My genny (Lister Petter 5kva) has worked perfectly for the past year or so, however, yesterday the genny still fired up but it wasn't generating power. I plugged my grinder in and it ran really slowly. I plugged the digital radio in and it power that.

Any suggestions on what might be the issue before I start taking it to bits?

  9. Hi all

I have just had a phone call off a good friend asking me to keep a look out for a boat that has been reported stolen from the Faries Hill area of Wakefield. The boat was allegedly taken yesterday or today. It is a 40 foot narrow boat, black hull, green got top with scruffy paintwork. It's name is Queen Iona but this is only shown on the licence in the window. I am waiting for a picture and a crime number. If anyone in the area has seen it go past I would appreciate the heads up.

    Thanks
