Hi Andy
Can't help you with the area but we have a 58ft traditional narrow boat built 14yrs ago as a live-aboard. We are considering offering it for long term rent as we are currently tied up setting a business up and are really short of time. This won't be forever so I don't want to sell for sentimental reasons. We are looking for someone who has time on their hands who would look after our boat on a rental agreement. It has a mooring (not residential) in Cheshire. Our boat's hull is a copy of an FMC boat, so she handles like a dream. She is heavy approx. 12 tonne, tug shape and has a vintage Lister HB3 engine, so whoever considers this option would need to have some experience. This is at this stage only a consideration so we would need to look into what needs to be done legally, and the additional costs that this might incurr, but the boat has high specification safety equipment and has recently passed its test.
Not sure whether this helps, but maybe worth an idea to you or someone else thinking along these lines.
