I have been browsing untold pages checking out the possibilities of buying or sharing a Narrow boat or Dutch barge either in the UK or in France as a retirement present to myself. I am a retired BP Mechanical Engineer and the pension I have and together with my on-going responsibilities here in Spain....having looked at the asking prices I now know it will be a 1/6th or 1/8th boat share ideally for 6-8 weeks and maybe I will have some nice CANALWORLD forum folks to navigate me up the right canal, (I had a previous share on a narrow boat on the beautiful Canal du Midi in France that turned out different from published and do not wish to make the same mistake twice).

1. I too wish to change my login from this huge number similat to my bank balance to something simple that can be rembered. I tried on the profile "change password" but it is only local. Please can a MOD help?
2. Thank you. I am going to try and raise a new private syndicate either for a 1/6th narrowboat in the UK or in France....we shall se said the blind man.
3. This post cannot be displayed because it is in a forum which requires at least 10 posts to view.
4. I never give up and this is not a private add to drum up business or else the post would be in "For Sale/Wanted"
5. You are wrong. I am who I said I am on my profile, a retired BP Engineer wishing to sound out the possiblity of forming a private syndicate in the UK for tall folk or a boat for the French canal system. The post is in the suggestion box. The suggestion is to recognise the menbers that are not the elite boatowners but individuales that wish to have a share in a boat and not have want full-time responsability or costs due to their particular circumstancias (not just economic). The post is in the suggestion box. I did not make it CLEAR that I am talking about ONLY PRIVATE share syndicates "shares for sale/wanted" and a sub-section dedicated to their issues. This subject will be lost in the General Boating sub-section and is not a general subject. I am in total agreement that it should be only for private boats. Private syndicates are NOT timeshare...a private boat the same as any other on this site but with multiple owners. Timeshare is correctly pointed out, a business and has no place here or in the for sale section. I am not drumming up nothing more than pointing out the needs of a LARGE number of owners that can discuss there relevant issues which are very distinct from an individual boat owner.
6. Buying a boat to use on the French waterways, can be a costly business when buying into an existing syndicate or timeshare and there are not so many offers. This is ONLY a PROPOSAL to think about this Dutch Steel Cruiser; there are always other"project" vessels to evaluate once we have identified the syndicate investors. I am using this vessel as a guide to what we could achieve with a willing hands-on approach and with like minded individuals. I am investigating if there are any "practical" members that might be interested in forming a private syndicate with me, to buy into say a 1/6th share and refurbish an old Dutch Steel Cruiser currently for sale at 18.900€ and moored on the beautiful Canal du Midi on the south of France, ? She can be viewed in all her rusty splendor at the Midicanals Boatshed.Com site:- http://midicanals.boatshed.com/dutch_steel_cruiser-boat-136537.html When this boat is restored it´s value will be far superior to the purchase price and the enjoyment from this 6 berth cruiser will be endless, An initial investment of 3.000€ each would secure the boat given it is worth restoring (that needs to be investigated). Obviously there will be more to pay as the restoration gets under way an estimate could be provided by the Midicanal boatbuilder for structural work for instance). I was thinking some of the superficial work could be achieved by the syndicate over say 2013-2014 (and probably 2015 ? The 1/6th share will allow each owner to use her for 6 weeks. Proposed name of Vessel: That Riviera Touch Private scheme with 1/6th share entitlement minimum of 4 weeks in high season taken together as one block, and 2 weeks in low season. Further weeks will also become available. Proposed booking system: Rotating system, four week block in high season (April to September inclusive) and two weeks low season minimum. The remaining weeks are offered in two week blocks with priority in reverse order. Priority for school holidays: The aim is to ensure that each owner can have a four week block in high season. If an owner wishes to split their four weeks they are expected to consult with the owners below them on the booking chart to ensure that their choice does not prevent another owner from taking a four week block. This proposal is therefore not really suitable for someone requiring school holiday weeks. Are pets allowed?: yes but only accompanied with a Dyson. Cruising requirement: RYA CEVNI, Thank you in advance of your replies,
7. I am interested to investigate the interest and indeed find out if there are any folk from the canal world that might be interested in buying into a 1/6th share (dog allowed with a Dyson), to buy a second hand Wide Beam boat or Dutch Barge or Tjalk for the French canal system and NOT spend silly money? If there were 5 more people that like to take on a "Project", then I would be pleased to hear from you. I am not sure how we go about setting up a private syndicate boat share but I believe the folk on this forum do know how...any way small details apart......here are some very nice examples of low cost boats currently for sale, only as a guide and some interesting projects. Tjalk for sale at 59.000€: http://www.h2ofrance.com/bateaux/gb/bateau_1077.html PROJECT 12m Rietaak Barge for sale at 27.000€ & PROJECT Aak motor barge “Corina“ at 19.000€: http://canalcruisers.com/ PROJECT English Narrow boat at 24.000€: http://apolloduck.net/206566 For Sale: 49ft Napton Narrowboats /Colecraft cruiser at 56.000€: http://www.abnb.co.uk/boats_for_sale.html For Sale: Penichette aménagée 59.000€ : http://barges.apolloduck.fr/display.phtml?aid=242567 For Sale: Dutch Motor Barge 69.000€: http://barges.apolloduck.fr/listings.phtml?next=10&sort=0&fx=EUR&limit=10&cid=428 EXCELLENT PROJECT...Steel 31ft Motorboat SEDAN at only 16.000€!: http://bourgogne.boatshed.com/steel_31ft_motorboat-boat-152641.html and last of all is my favorite......this I believe is a real BARGAIN subject to a hull inspection.....and some TLC Dutch Steel Cruiser for sale at only 18.900€: http://midicanals.boatshed.com/dutch_steel_cruiser-boat-136537.html Awaiting your replies and comments or is that a tall order,
8. I am interested to investigate the interest and indeed find out if there are any tall folk from the canal world that might be interested in buying into a 1/6th share (dog allowed with a Dyson) to order a new or buy a second hand Narrow boat with headroom from 6´-7" to 6´-10" for the UK canal system? I am 6´-4" which I believe is the limit on a standard internal headroom , but if there were 5 more people, not necessarily tall, interested in an increment in the internal headroom then I would be pleased to hear from you. I am not sure how we go about setting up a private syndicate boat share but I believe the folk on this forum do know how...any way small details apart......here is a very nice example, eg; TRANQUILITY has a 6´-7" headroom for you to check-out, together with a long double bed. She is currently up for sale priced $49.500 at : http://rugbyboats.co.uk/brochure_pdfs/1283.pdf Recently I saw on the net, a new Collingwood Boats Narrow boat Hull for sale which had 6´-10" internal headroom, so they do exist! Maybe there is a PROJECT narrow boat "Tug" out there some where to rebuild and install a lovely Ruston or Gardener refurbished engine from Walshes of Manchester Awaiting for your replies and comments and indeed if you know of other narrow boat shares available that fit the bill or is that a tall order?
9. I am delighted to have found the forum today and hello to all. I have been browsing untold pages checking out the possibilities of buying or sharing a Narrow boat or Dutch barge either in the UK or in France as a retirement present to myself. I have briefly viewed the forum categories and I am un sure wher to find like minded members here at Canalworld? I am a retired BP Mechanical Engineer and the pension I have and together with my on-going responsibilities here in Spain....having looked at the asking prices I now know it will be a 1/6th or 1/8th boat share ideally for 6-8 weeks and maybe I will have some nice CANALWORLD folks to navigate me up the right canal, (I had a previous share on a narrow boat on the beautiful Canal du Midi in France that turned out different from published and do not wish to make the same mistake twice).
10. I am particularly interested in boat sharing in the UK or France and I am a little suprised there is no category listed especially dedicated to these members issues?

11. I am delighted to have found this forum and hello to all.

12. Would it be a good suggestion that a section dedicated to only share owners and their particular issues is included as a sub-discussion category on the CANALWORLD forum page? SHA RED BOAT
