  1. Ah bobbins!!! Smartgauge looks like a quality piece of kit. So could I fit one in conduction with what's already there? I meant conjunction ;-))
  2. Our boat is fitted with a sterling inverter and charging system including a digital monitor which is great and provides more info than I could ever need. We have a shoreline connected at our base so no worries there. Only problem is the monitor only works when the engine is running so when we are moored canalside I have no way of knowing what state of charge the batteries are in without starting the engine. Is there anything I can fit which is on all the time and can just look at to keep an eye on the batteries.
  3. No you're not mad. We bought our first boat in July and spent 2 weeks cruising from Silsden by which time it felt like home. Since then we've had another week away and spent Thursday to Monday aboard every weekend since. Hate returning to bricks and mortar on Monday night We've already started getting rid of useless stuff ready for when we can sell up and move aboard.
  4. Fine piece of advice :-)) Can't wait to "winterise" ours ;-))
  5. our pump out toilet used to smell when we first bought the boat. we started using odorlos and now have no smells. toilet blue is nasty stuff and kills all the good bacteria that helps to break stuff down in the tank.
  6. Can anyone recommend an engineer who can install a webasto diesel boiler and radiators on my boat which is moored in Rufford. Ta
  7. Quite the opposite for us. We bought our 1st boat in July, spent 2 weeks traveling from Yorkshire and can't wait for the day when we can move aboard. We spend 4 nights a week on it and it now feels like home. Hate returning to bricks and mortar on a Monday morning.
  8. Thanks for the replies. Think I'll be going down the epoxy route and see how well it survives over time.
  9. Our newly acquired boat is overdue for blacking and I'm considering shelling out for epoxy coating. I would like some feedback of the pros and cons of both methods. Thanks
