Mounting it upside-down would mean that hot water entering would remain at the top and  flow straight out again, leaving the water at the bottom of the radiator cold. You would need to mount it sideways with the hot entering at the higher port.

I just knew I had forgotten something - duh. 🫣 I Like the sideways mounting idea though.

  2. Just a thought for Amanda.

Have you thought of selling limited edition prints of your paintings. These can be authenticated with a certificate and it means that you can 'sell' a painting many times. I have quite a few prints as well as some original paintings and, when done properly, they can be just as impressive as the original artwork.

  3. I'm not an electrician (though I have rewired two houses) but it sounds to me like an earth fault. As TheBiscuits says, unplug everything first. Then if the problem remains, with the isolator switch off, check for continuity from live and neutral to earth. If that exists then you will have to work through your sockets one by one, removing the covers and checking the connections.

  4. If your phone still works and you have a laptop/PC computer then I would recomend a program/app called MyPhoneExplorer. It lets you look at all the files on your phone and transfer them to the laptop/PC (as well as doing other things). It connects using cable, wifi or bluetooth and once installed is very easy to use.

Could try a descaler designed for boilers/dishwashers.

I think I would be wary of this. I am no chemical expert but, as I understand it, many boilers/dish washers are made of stainless steel and any descaler designed for that may be too strong for copper/brass type oil cooler tubes and cause damage. Back flushing with water would be safer.

"I was told exactly the same when a diesel bowser sank near Tower Bridge.  It  dragged down a tug which was moored alongside and caused, in my eyes, a massive stretch of polluted river.  Sure enough after a few tides it had all disappeared. "

River pollution doesn't 'just disappear', it moves elsewhere - until there's nowhere else to go and then it just gathers, stagnates and kills things.

Not heard that for a while, wonder how many understand the reference.

I would presume it refers to the old fashioned telephone operators putting their headphones back on after a tea break.

Most likely I'm wrong though - I usually am!
