  1. Hello again, and thanks to all of you who gave advice on the bow thruster question. I have another question about the design of my new boat. It is having a Webasto diesel boiler fitted for heating with hot water via a twin coil calorifier the second coil fed from the engine. I have a multi fuel stove with a back boiler. If I were to fit the stove is it possible to integrate the back boiler with the central heating and calorifier. The stove would obviously be an open system with a header tank and pump while I believe the Webasto runs on a closed system with a small expansion tank. It seems to me that it would be a waste of energy if when the fire is lit in the winter months it is not heating the water and bedroom / shower room as well. I fully understand how both systems work but I’m not sure how to combine them. Has anyone out there got this sort of system? Thanks. Jim.
  2. Hi there ! I have just placed a deposit on a build of a part fitted wide beam that I intend to live aboard. My budget is tight and I am trying to save money in any way I can. My ideal size of boat would be 55' x 12' but at the moment I cannot quite stretch to that size but can just afford a 50' x 12'. The cost of having a bow thruster fitted is £2700. Having only been on much smaller boats I have no experience of bow thrusters. Are they a necessity or a luxury on a boat this size ? The saving made by not having one could buy an extra 5' x 12' of living space. Thank you in advance for any advice on this subject and for answers to many more questions that I am sure I will be posting in the near future. Jim
