  1. Glynn, just remember the very basic rule of all canals.............

the more people watching, the bigger mistakes you will make....

when you turn left down towards your mooring, what is on the opposite side to where you are moored, is it bank or is it another set of pontoons.

If there are no boats there, you could nose int the bank opposite your mooring and line up the rear to reverse straight in.

Perhas if you mentioned which marina, someone could advise from a google satview or local knowledge.

There are pontoons opposite as well !.

    Its at Reedley Marina http://www.reedleymarina.co.uk/

Our berth is on the long continuos side, to the left opposite the entrance.

  2. Hi ,

We have just bought a narrowboat,we did have one some 20 years ago but love them so much were back !.

My question is whats the easiest way without looking like an idiot to reverse into our marina ( shared long jettys -fingers )

The entrance off the canal is a right turn into the middle of the marina, I then need to turn left, turn around & reverse in.

I seem to have trouble turning the boat into the right position ( lining up ) before reversing.

    It's a 52 ft boat.

    Please be gentle.

  3. Hi,

I have a narrow boat with the Barrus Shire 42 hp engine fitted, it has been occasionally failing to stop when I press the stop switch.

It does however stop if I press the button in on the injector pump ( manual stop ), I have measured the voltage at the stop solenoid and it is 12.8 V with the stop switch pressed.

I'm thinking the solenoid is stuck ?. Are these a known problem & do you reckon it can be freed off ?.

    Any advice greatly taken.
