  1. I think the examiner is confused, as far as I can see there is no requirement for the on board units potential load to be less than the capacity of the supply, (as when you connect to different supplies they may be different any way), all supply points should be protected at the potential load of the supplying socket.

If you want to peruse yourself see - http://www.boatsafetyscheme.org/media/194782/2013ecp_private%20_boats_ed3_public_final.pdf section 3.

  2. Applied on-line 5th Dec, queried non arrival of "discs" the reply I got was,

"I'm really sorry but it looks like there was a problem with the online renewals system when you paid. We have the payment showing on your account but it doesn't look like the discs have actually been posted yet.

I have asked out boat licensing team to push this through manually for you so you should receive the discs very soon. In the meantime we can see from our systems that your boat is licensed so please ignore any further automatically generated reminder letters you are sent."

So may get the paperwork eventually !

  3. Do you have a smartphone ? (No NOT off topic) if you have, download the "Batterymegastore" app, then tell them you have done so, & they will issue a 10% discount code, which makes them (any make of battery on their site) a very good price ! I got 4 T105's for £355.68.

  4. When PME was first introduced, it was designated Protective Multiple Earthing, as the then Neutral & earth conductors in the then common 5 wire overhead supplies were connected together every 6 or so poles & at every distribution pole or junction pole to prevent nuisance tripping of the the then common voltage operated Earth Leakage Circuit Breakers.

If i was to use a marina would I get it for the 60ft price or would i have to pay for a 70fter?

That depends on the marina, some charge for "set" lengths, (eg if you are on a 50' pontoon in a 30' boat you pay the 50' price, some are willing to charge by the foot, so check out the places you fancy & ask the question.

how would this effect me moving around the system

That depends on where you would like to go ! if you want to "do" all of the system then a 57' ish boat is the recommended max, 60' if you want to do the L&L (though some have done it with a bit of faff with longer) It's a "how long is a piece of string question ! Depends again on your aims.

biggest problem with the design is the saloon comes out at 8ft7"

Suggest you look at some other boats, & decide what you can live with !

Sorry to be so vague, but as there are so many variables it's is solely your choice, get dozens of boaters together & you will find just as many differences of opinion & boat layout !

  6. Perhaps the following example will explain why some repairs to structures take so long to do. The culprit of the bridge strike was known at the time of the incident so not a case of waiting for funding. Look at the submissions that have to be given to the council in the various documents to be able to carry out the repair !
