I've always said, as far as moorings goes, CCing is very good value for money!
Not quite sure where you are going with that statement?

One wonders what some of you would think of this.As some of you know I have been extremely ill for some months and have been unable to move my boat. This did not stop CaRT from asking me for a £480 fee for the winter period,November to the end of March to allow me to stay on the towpath at my chosen spot.I am now looking at other boats along the towpath very close to me who have not paid a fee and have been close to me and not moved for months.I did not hesitate to pay CaRT for this period,I thought it a good idea. However it as made me wonder who the fool is in this matter.

Short answer
There are a number of health issues we are discussing with NHS and CRT I have helped a number of CCers over the last year with life threatening illness trying to get registered with a doctor
Indeed you have John and I know this from my own illness.I have to say that CRT have been very understanding.

Feck off, lets have some proper answers.

If the paper work is in order this a very reasonable price.

Anyone on here help me to find the best route to take a Widebeam from Skipton to the Lea and Stort,I realise that the full journey cannot be done and a crane out and in will be required.Where will be the best places be for cranage. This is not for my own boat but a friends. The width and length are 11 ft x 57ft.Thanks.

Hi, we're currently on the Lancaster Canal, does anyone have a signal crayfish pot they no longer use that they may be interested in selling please? Post or pm thanks.
Nice one!!

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm,got me thinkin now.

You could could convert from petrol to LPG if you are worried about the use of petrol on the boat.

Does sound good,I need my stern deck replacing and this material needs looking into.Good post, have a greenie.

The consensus seems to be go for 15v as I am not on shoreline and this is what I will do taking care that I check electrolyte levels. Thanks for everyone's input.

The Sustrans and the council are spending around £1.5 million on regrading the towpath between Gargrave and Skipton. This will enable the some of the cyclists around here to time themselves with their stopwatches and make even greater time between A and B.I witnessed an accident between an elderly woman and a lycra clad mountain biker on the towpath in Skipton Town Centre some years ago,it was not a pretty sight. It is nice to see a family out and about on their bikes for a leisurely ride, however I don't think it is the place to be doing time trials against yourself or your mates.

Springer!Just to add the Hallmark boat as an engine room from hell.

Best place I've found to moor up is close enough to the bank to get off the boat.
And not step in dog poo.

Will 15v desulphate the battery plates or just prevent them getting sulphated in the first place?
A few years ago my alternator controllers were only going up to 14.6v and I was asking a question on the forum about why they weren't going to 14.8v. Gibbo asked me why I needed 14.8v and I replied that I thought the batteries wouldn't get sulphated at the higher voltage. He told me I'd need 16v to prevent or get rid of sulphation.
The quoted figure from the Trojan website for these batts are 14.8volts.

Also put some cross cuts in the wood with a sharp knife or chisel this will help the adhesive penetrate the wood.Don't forget the adhesive bond will only be as strong as the paint surface so remove some of that as well.

Where are you

I suspect that you are utterly wrong on that last point, as I'm pretty certain that none of the moderating team think of me as a "great god". Clearly Google isn't that great a friend to you if you imagine that the moderators see me in that way.
I have to say that I am impressed that I mean so much to you that you appear to be amassing a dossier of my activities over the years, whilst I was unable (without the assistance of my friend Google) to recall who you are.
The fact that you still appear to be holding a grudge about a post that I made FOUR YEARS ago in response to a post of yours that contained so many negatives that it made it difficult to understand (http://www.canalworld.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=25186&page=2#entry421254) suggests that you are being rather obsessive about this.
I made loads of posts on urw (these are even longer ago, have you considered that your obsession may be an issue). I can hardly comment without knowing which you take issue with.
Yes, my name crops up on "What do they Know". https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/the_real_breach_of_the_law Somebody was attempting to use a FOI request to solicit an opinion from BW. The request was very clearly NOT and FOI request, and I took issue with somebody causing BW to waste money in that way.
Perhaps you haven't noticed, but several of the people who "leap to my defence" are usually on the opposite side of an argument to me.
Yes, I described the petition as semi-literate, and I stand by that description. I have no idea whether the petitioner is semi-literate or whether he simply failed to devote sufficient time to actually wording his petition. You may not like my description of the petition, but it is my view of it.
It is interesting that you keep coming back to how clever I am. Perhaps that is the crux of it. Do you have a chip on your shoulder about people who are educated? Do you resent them for it? Do you think they should all have mucked about in school, so that they would be unable to advance an argument that defeats yours?
Sorry to dissapoint, but I'm not that well educated. I have 8 O-Levels and 4 A-Levels, but I dropped out of University, and never seem to get round to doing another bit of my OU degree. I do have a capacity for accumulating useless information, and as a self-taught IT professional have managed to learn enough to get a job at a "University Degree or equivalent experience" level.

What's wrong with oil lamps anyway?
Nothing I love em,when needed for seduction.

Am I the only one who feels like they're reading a foreign language? I'm guessing this has something to do with batteries?
The question was meant for those that are in the know, that's why I used a foreign language.

Keep a look out for me this time.

No he just wets his nappy when he sees a comfy boat wider than a sewer pipe coming towards him. We put up with narrowboats all the time on the Trent, in fact we have one as a toilet block on the princess.
Tim
Nice one Tim,on the L and L we have to put up with far too many of the steel coffins.

Selecting charge voltage is almost as important as deciding between a proper pump out and a plastic suitcase!
Are you a liveaboard without shorepower?
If you generally manage to keep the batteries full because you either have access to mains electricity or cruise most days then I would go for 14.7.
If you struggle to get a full charge because you are having to run the engine/generator just to charge the batteries then 15v would be better.
I use 15 in winter when we move every week or two and 14.8 in summer when we move most days.
I don't think 15v will seriously reduce the life of the batteries but sulphation almost certainly will.
............Dave
I have the Travel Pack so is the same as having shore power except I won't be running the engine as long as I would like apart from when I am cruising for most of the day(every two weeks or so)

Or to increase the suns intensity lots of magnifying glasses or one great big whopper.

My illness is progressive,I am leaving the cut as soon as my boat is sold.In any case I no longer wish to be a tenant of CaRT.
