  1. I went in there about 10 years ago. The bogs utterly STANK.

Put me off the place for life...

    Edit to add:

Damn I've confused the Boat Inn with the Jolly Boatman, both at Thrupp. It was the Jolly Boatman with the stinking bogs. My apologies to the Boat Inn. Their bogs are fine!

Indeed, you were in the Boat in 2014.

  2. Please check that you are zooming into the right area on the map, you want the green circled area NOT the red

Ah, got it. Yes works a treat and shows direction. On point 4, just being able to present lat/longs on a report, with as the crow flies distance is still good I think, from a personal log perspective and also if the need arises to show movement to CRT etc.

  3. The commercials are very attractive. Would suggest that there are 4 things that would be nice features -

1 - alert if the device leaves a home geofence

2 - alert if internal battery charge is low

3 - alert if disconnected from charging source

4 - report to show daily/weekly/monthly distance travelled

It's a great idea, albeit with a limited market, I'm in as they say...

BTW, red dot disappears for me also, running Chrome on a Galaxy Tab 2.

  4. I wont get mine till the wifey comes back from a break on the isle of Wight, our postal address is there!

I was hoping that the package was being delivered by a courier.

The last time something was delivered from EE the courier emailed me to confirm the delivery address and time of delivery and if that was inconvenient, would i like the package delivered to one of there local delivery centers anywhere in the country.

Most villages in the UK have a delivery place, I know the one in Chirk on the Llangollen is the local Chemist! As it is, i will have to wait till the wifey gets back!

    Enjoy!

    Nipper

Bloody hell it is quick. 46.69mbps. The other good news is that it worked in my 3 mifi unit which I thought was locked to the 3 network. For comparison we were getting 12.43 on 3 (no 4g coverage here).

  5. When I bought over 2 tonnes of ex naval cast iron ballast from them a few years back, it was priced at £400 / tonne (+ VAT)

That was rusty cast iron ballast, but suited my purpose well.

Clean steel ballast in easily managed strips was I think £500 / tonne (+ VAT)

At the time the scrap price of steel or iron was about £100 / tonne - hence why I say Mann Buck was 4 or 5 times more expensive than you would weigh it in at.

Obviously scrap prices have fallen since, but I have no idea how ballast prices will have gone in comparison.

From memory I paid maybe as much as a further £175 to have it delivered, (might have been less - mot sure), but it was as high as that because they sent a truck with its own forklift that could get it where I needed it. I didn't fancy 2.5 tonnes of ballast dumped on a public highway that I then had to move quickly before the police turned up.

Another vote for Bill Mann, we paid £1000 for 2 tonnes, paying cash will get you a discount. There is a picture of the delivered ballast it in the thread http://www.canalworld.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=60001&page=1

  6. I don't but neither do I deny the plight of many women and girls in the UK. The fact that more of those in one country suffer more than those in another does not mean that we should ignore that lesser country.

You do realise that it was very recently when it became illegal for a man to beat his wife and even more recently when it became illegal for a man to rape his wife in England?

I agree entirely, but the fact is that we are (largely) evolving. It is no longer legal for a man to rape his wife, women can vote, homosexuality is legally allowed and widely accepted by the majority of the population. We still have a lot of work to do and we undoubtedly will. I still don't think you can compare the UK to Saudi, Afghanistan et al.

  7. We can't even remove barbaric men that treat their women like animals from our own culture.

Why do we expect men from other countries to be whiter than white?

Are you saying the way the average woman in the UK is treated is on par with say Saudi? Or Afghanistan?

  8. From the BBC report"Addressing a committee of state MPs on Monday, Mr Jaeger criticised the police for not calling for reinforcements on the night, and also for the way they informed the public about the investigation in the days after the events. His report details how a group of around 1,000 men of North African and Arabic origin gathered in the area on the evening of 31 December. From this large group, smaller groups of men formed, who then surrounded women and threatened and attacked them, he said".So the 4 figure number has some credibility, although it is unclear how many of these then went on to commit the assaults.

The same article does say "More than 500 criminal complaints have been filed - 40% alleging sexual assault" so still unclear how many actually committed offences but a significant number potentially and sadly.

  9. Sadly Paul has been having a few issues (I hope he won't mind it mentioned) but glad to say he is clawing his way back to his old self. I for one have missed him posting and look forward to seeing him back to his old self.

    Phil

Sorry to hear that. If you are in contact with Paul can you pass on all the birthday greetings and wish him well?

  10. It's on the Norton Canes register as hull 1030. Given Tesla is 1044 and built in 1992 I would query the age. Looks nice though (but I would say that).

Edit to add: Graham or Sarah Edgson would undoubtedly be happy to confirm if you were to contact them.

Aren't there 2 builders at Norton Canes? Edgsons being one of them?

    Not to my knowledge.

  11. Well it looks ok to me except that:

It's not my style (no engine room)

No permanent bed (you might get fed up with fiddling with it every night

No need for a huge generator, but I'd sell that (£2-3k?)

I couldn't speak for the hull condition, but Edgson is a good and renowned builder. Survey?

    Offer £44950.

It doesn't look immediately like an Edgson to me, although I'm no expert. I can't see a HIN anywhere - that will give you the builder's ID.

    If It's an Edgson, it'll be well-built.
