  1. Ok....I KNOW you guys are trying to keep the southern boaters away from the northern canals, but you I cant keep quiet about this any longer.....the L&L is heaven on earth smile.png ChrisT.....wonderful to meet you, although very briefly...but your words are so true.....this bit is the best in the country....pics cant even do it justice....you just have to experience it...I even HAD to slow myself to tickover and take it all in...the rolling hills...the sheep on every hill....the greenery......I'm in love. The L&L has safely taken the lead in best canals I've ever been on......AMAZING!

I'll add some pics to this post shortly smile.png

Will you stop going on about it !!!!, we're trying to keep it a secret ,

Having said that, where are you ? it's your round .

  2. Should i be concerned ? Ironic - UK suffers from another drought ? What does one do when your holiday is jeopodised due to NO RAIN ?

A few years ago we had the same problem but worse, the locks were all closed around this area and the hire boats were moved to areas not affected by the drought so don't worry too much.

Having said that we were out on the top pound a few weeks ago and it was full to the brim but now the area around our mooring is definitely lower than it as been for a while, a couple of weeks of sun and looks what happens.

  3. Thanks all for the positive responses, Looks a definite then ! I have read of the great gathering of all 6 surviving A4's , sadly i wont be there till late September, but still intend to visit. one other Question , Am i safe to leave my hire boat on the canal around keighley/Shipley for the day ? I asume its able to be secured .

There should be no problem with leaving your hire boat where ever you want to catch your train from. The easiest and nearest are Skipton, Silsden, Bingley, Saltaire and Shipley, all safe and all within walking distance to the train station for Leeds.

  4. Last time we came this way we moored at Dover Lock which was quite a pleasant mooring, then 2 locks to do on the Leigh branch and then up the Wigan 21, we were told we'd meet up with other boats going the same way but ended up doing all 23 by ourselves with no sign of any other boats all day.

Apart from Blackburn and Burnley there's no problems with mooring anywhere until you reach the outskirts of Leeds

  5. Hi, I've one that I made up myself, I had to cut the tiller arm at the right place and then attached the hinge, you can either throw away the part that you're replacing or make the arm longer, I bought mine from Puffer Parts at Keighley.

It's not a difficult job to do.

  6. We have a Whispergen onboard, it was on the boat when we bought it, it's briiliant, runs off diesel, very quiet, charges the batteries, heats the water and runs the central heating, BUT costs a fortune in spare parts / repair and very very expensive to buy / fit

If I didn't have one on the boat when we bought it then I'd struggle to justify paying the asking price for it.
