I just got one with a fresher up kit, the old seat just clips off and the new one just clips on ,
I had the same problem but it only takes 2 seconds.

I'll be in this week to see what you've got left !!!

We had a small fridge on our last boat which we ran off gas, it does get a bit warm, that's normal and it was fine but it does get a bit expensive
depending on how long you're out on the boat. If you're out for some time it may become very expensive.
We now have a boat with a full size 12 volt fridge which costs us nothing to run as we have a bank of 5 leisure batteries and 2 solar panels,
it all depends on your batteries and your output

Yes it annoys us as well and our boat is named after Titus Salt, we usually moor nearer Hirstwood lock but that is also because of the shallow water nearer Saltaire,
I think the no overnight moorings thing is purely down to the occupants of the flats but it's the usual who was here first, the canal or the flats

I had the same problem with ours and I found it was the rope that needed replacing, new rope and it shut perfectly.
Try it !

I have one of these which was on the boat when I bought it, I've had it serviced by a firm call Onboard Energy (Kevin) at Nuneaton,
theres also a bloke near Rotherham that services/repairs them other than ringing them and asking you might struggle
to find one.

There's a hire boat sunk in Higherland lock at Gargrave on the Leeds & Liverpool,
No-one hurt but likely to be a few hours before it reopens,
apparently the back end got stuck by the gate as the boat went diagonally across the lock
and as the lock filled the front went up and the back didn't !

I've had a similar problem and after much trial and error I found that the best way when not travelling is to run the engine, inverter on and immersion heater on for 15/20 minutes, enough hot water for at least a couple of showers,
(I wouldn't try the immersion heater on without running the engine at the same time)

There's no speed limit at Gunthorpe on the Trent and at West Haddlesey on the Aire (& Calder) for speed boats involved in water skiing and both are C&RT approved,
I've skied on both stretches in a previous life but we did try to avoid other boaters
-
Have you checked out the C & RT licence for a day boat, apparently they've shot up this year as well
-
You just be careful when you get over that hill !!!!!

It all depends what sort of accommodation you're looking for, there's The Rendevous Hotel, a mile out of town situated immediately next to the canal or there's Herriotts Hotel, in town and on the side of the canal again
or there's loads and loads of B & B's all round the area it just depends on what you like and what your budget is, good look with the viewings,
Are you looking at any boats in particular ?

We went up through Gargrave locks last weekend and I was very careful to make sure I didn't touch the closed gate (there again my eyesight is not what it used to be) Titus as a 6'10" beam
-
Why should that happen when just using one lock gate ? when I go in a lock through just one single gate I don't touch the other gate !
-
I've had one for a couple of years and wouldn't be without it (trad stern)
I bought it from puffer parts

What a shame, we'll be at Skipton Waterways Festival
-
See you both in Skipton
Dave

NOW do you believe me !!!!
-
We'll see you at Skipton

Lancaster is beautiful but I find it boring after a day or so due to no locks (except the Glasson Branch) or swingbridges.

I love this stretch of canal. Good advice above. Only thing I would add is that the most scenic bit is Skipton to Foulridge on the summit.
Yes Richard but you're biased, you live there, Kildwick is very nice too though

The times for the 5 rise are roughly 9 to 5 ish there's nothing to book after the winter just get out of Leeds and turn up at the bottom of the 3 rise (before the 5 rise) and see the lock keeper, if you're too late it's no problem mooring in Bingley for the night.
Wave when you get to Kildwick

Check out this website for more info on the Leeds and Liverpool

I would think that Farmer should charge you for access and mooring and in that he pays CaRT a payment .The only dealings you should have with CaRT is payment of licence.
It doesn't always work like that, our landowner (who also as a boat) does the same, we pay him so much a year for the mooring and we also pay CaRT moorings fees, plus the licence fees
Water pump advice
in Boat Equipment
Posted
I had this problem a couple of weeks ago, after searching the boat for a leak and not finding one I decided to buy and fit a new pump
(£65) and this solved the problem, I was told it was the water pressure getting back past the diaphragm, I don't know if that
was the problem but it's not happening now.
