I always carry a pack of babys nappies for water that I can't get to or get out of certain spaces,
Just open one up, put it in and leave it for a day or so, it always works for me.

I didn't know that they owned any buildings in the middle of Skipton.

Don't know anything about the eberspacher but we had the webasto fit last year and lived on the boat for
3 months in the winter and found it to be an excellent piece of kit. (we have 4 rads)

There's also the café/snack bar at the top of Greenberfield locks and Abbots Harbour café at East Marton but that's a hell of a walk from Foulridge

I'd be tempted to do all Wigan locks in one go, hard work but after the problems last week when 5 pounds were emptied overnight
it would be better to get to the top and relax there, there's loads of decent places to moor between Wigan and Blackburn, just avoid
staying overnight in Blackburn and then again between Blackburn and Burnley, loads of countryside, Enjoy !

I see the idiots at Wigan are at it again, it looks like the locks have been closed all day and won't be open until tomorrow morning

We were going down along with another boat and were in the bottom lock when our boat (which was not actually touching the side) began to tilt badly,
My other half who was steering screamed and climbed onto the other boat, we quickly sorted the lock out by shutting the bottom paddles and letting some water
in from the lock above to level our boat, we then slowly emptied the lock again with no problem.
After we left the lock we looked at all possible reasons why it happened but although there were several boaters around we couldn't
work out why it had happened.
We have since been back through the lock on a few occasions with no problems

We also had a major problem there a couple of years ago going down, we reported it to CRT but obviously its still happening

We used to have a sea cock on our old Springer I only ever turned it off in winter or when the filter blocked and I had to clear it.

I've just found this boat for sale on ebay, I'm sorry but I just don't like it (or the price) what does anyone else think ?

Dean's going to love this

I've just had the same problem, the valve was stuck, after a bit of messing about I've managed release the valve and get some air in and finally get a reading

Our draft is 2ft 6in and at times I wish it was a bit less but we seem to get around okay most of the time
-
I don't think you'll have any problems, my only advice is to set off in the morning and you'll be through that area before they even get up.
Enjoy the L & L

The best I've seen is where my dad used to moor his boat and that is Hest Bank on the Lancaster canal, just north of Morecambe, he could see the sea from the towpath.

As Richard says, Ian shut down a couple of months ago and the site was taken over by central waterways,
that doesn't help me though I only live a couple of miles from where he was.
But I did get a few bargains before he closed.

I had a similar problem in the summer, couldn't find any leaks so bought a new pump for £70,
problem solved.

Another reason why we need a trip advisor type section in the absence of one I would advice ops to write letters to boat mags if Braunston do not do the right by them.
I wonder if RCR had been called out to this problem would they assist in a claim against these cowboys ?
No I doubt it !, we boat a boat from New and Used at Mercia nearly 3 years ago, we paid them to have a full service but I also joined RCR as backup
3 days into our journey home the boat broke down, RCR were called out and after looking at the engine said, "You should have got it serviced before
you set off" I showed him the receipt for the service and he said well they've not changed either of your fuel filters and showed me them, they were totally
gunged up, we finally got on our way home losing several hours journey time.
When we finally got home I rang the brokers who insisted the job had been done correctly and they would speak to the mechanic, Months later after
several phone calls and emails I finally received a personal cheque from the salesman to cover the service.
They really don't want to know after they've got your money

Sounds suspiciously like the starter motor is playing up, I'd take that off and have it checked first.

You may find it hard on the L & L swingbridges as most of the mechanics are on the non towpath side but I've seen numerous people doing it, some just wait for another boat and run with them.
