  1. Not overly fussed about location, we just want to start somewhere and maybe move as we gain more experience. As mentioned before ideally about an hour or so from London by train.
  2. We won't be living aboard but I'm interested in how long most marinas let you stay before they consider your residing? Also when you pay for your stay say 12 months do you get an allotted pitch that you can come and go from or just a pitch in the Marina somewhere. Sorry if I'm asking silly things but we're new to this and know no one with a boat!! Cheers j
  3. Thanks for info so far, budget for boat around 30/35 and mooring wise we just want secure and friendly, bells and whistles not needed so around 2/2.5 per yr? Not to sure what the going rate for mooring is? I'll look into the other locations thanks Matt, we want some where we can do a fair bit of traveling from so ideally connected to longer systems. Thank again. J

  5. Morning all, and happy newyear! We are yet to buy our boat and would like some advice beforehand on the following. How long can you stay aboard on a non resident mooring? Does it differ depending where you are. Where's the best place to start looking for a 60fter, there seem to be sooo many places selling? Anyone to avoid etc? We need a Marina/secure mooring near a train station(wife doesn't drive) on the Oxford, kennet or grand union, ideally an hour or so out of London by train. That's it for now, I'm sure theres more. Cheers!
  6. Hi all, me and the mrs hope to be buying our first boat in the new year. We want something around 60ft what sleeps upto 6. Will be after loads of advice in the coming months and I'm sure you'll be sick of me in no time. Our other passion is our 67 VW Splitscreen camper which I suppose is the auto version of the canal boat?
