  1. I have a 52ft x 10ft Collingwood, and have a webasto and rads / towel rails to fit. The walls are thin, really thin, can flex them by pushing. What fittings would people suggest to hold the rad? I wondered about spring toggle plaster board fittings, but thought i'd ask here first!
  2. Thanks for the reply. Soak as in pour down the loo and flush, or take valve out? Where do I find it?
  3. Hi all, not sure if should be in here, or equipment. Just returned to the boat after 4 days away, and was greated by a not so pleasent smell. When I was investigating, the toilet was half full. Its a vetus with a tank built under the bed. The previous owner built a hand pump and Y valve into the system as he used to pump straight into the hamble... My only thought, if its a pressurised system, and the hand valve has a breather on it would this cause the back flow? When I flsuhed it- 1'st push of eco it filled, and 1/3 drained. 1nd flish on eco- all fine again. Any ideas?!
  4. I've just had my new boat craned in and brought it down- so now looking to sort the heating. The hot water is heater by the engine / calorifyer, and have been told I can fit a mains heater element to the tank when hooked up. Do not really want to change this system as seems to work well. I'm planning on fitting 3 rads, and a towel rail, and have been told the webasto will run this as a pressurised system. Have I the right heater to do this? Its a 4kw Thermo Top E.
  5. The GF wants tenrecs. All APH's ive met have been grumpy buggers!
  6. Cheers for reply all. Have been cad designing a large display tank for the boat, but also still looking into birds and other options! Will give the horse a miss though!
  7. I've searched the forum, and read a few old posts, but wonder what pets people have onboard. In my current house I keep and breed a lot of poison arrow dart frogs, but have them all for sale due to space so will be building one large fitted tank. What else do people keep? I mean unusual like skunks, fennecs, ferrets, parrots, fish. Thins away from dogs or cats really.
  8. I work at the Outdoor Ed centre below the lock, right hand channel. Thankfully very few people navigate the backwater- which is good as we put 85000 people through activities! The last narrow that came down the back waters drunk owner ignored myself and my bosses advice to slow down and did £2k of damage to a dragon boat it side swiped...! Yer, didn't mean Dunc getting me through, was more if I could moor above. Worst case I'll shoot the weir!!
  9. Hmmm, that may be awkward then! Got to get it to just below Marlow lock. Above Marlow is OK- ish, we work closely with the locky so i'll see if I can temp mooring- but really gotta get it moving before they do Marsh then. Not nice flow at the moment for 1st use of the boat though (although before people worry, I teach water sports for a living, am a inland waterways helm, and friend is an IW trainer).
  10. Honest answer- I don't know about low loader or flat bed...
  11. In the nicest way- phew! Thought I'd missed an amazing deal! Paying £59450 for a late 2011 50x10 collington- fully fitted to high spec. Thruster, 4 batteries, 11hrs on engine. Has a small snag list (eg- chrome bracket missing off shower), has a webastor, but not fitted, and hot water currently only from running the engine. Boats like new though- fire and oven never even used! Got a knock of asking price as took on lifting and transport myself. Would have loved a 2 bedroom, but this can be a stepping stone!
  12. True, in scale of things the £ numbers for lift etc are tiny- but every bit I spend is less I can down as the deposit. Boats also 2nd hand rather than new build. £55k wasnt fitted out was it?!
  13. Looks like T&D is coming up best crane price. Now just low loader. 1 company said £960 inc VAT without escort vehicles (said dont need), another just quoted me £800 +vat (so same price), with lorry and 2 escort vehicles.
  14. Thanks for replies. Just spoke to Butchers', £9 a foot which is much cheaper than previous quote. Which lock is closing on the 5th? Chris
  15. Hi All, As it says- hopefully have a mortgage going through in the next couple of days on a 52x10 WB. It will need bringing up on a low loader and then putting in to eventually end up in Marlow. The list says it weighs 22ton. My 2 local mariners, Bourne End, and Espar cannot do the weight, so advised Bushnells in Wargrave. Anyone know any other options to look at price? Regards Chris
  16. Certainly has, although standard is questionable! Thanks for all help identifying, with places to contact etc guys. Had day off today, so gave her a clean up to assess the damage etc. Every screw they've used, for headlining etc, have been so long they've gone straight through the roof and deck. Has had fans fitted in the celing, and the roof vent is... a hole covered in gaffer tape! Was a bit grubby. Got most of the rotten rub strake off.
  17. John, that lookscorrect- fantastic, thank you very much. Now to hunt for spares! Nice to see what a good one is worth as well.
  18. The closest I can find that looked like it was just marked as a 'Norfolk Cruiser'.
  19. I'm currently restoring this boat, and unsure of its make and model- no idea plates on it, and cant find records online to ID it (although new ish to big boat, so probably looking in the wrong place. I need to replace the material cover on the back of the sliding roof, and hoping if I can identify the boat, it may be cheaper than getting one custom made. This was when I brought her home- she looks a lot worse than she is- honest! Got the engine running- told not run for 9yrs by a neighbouring boat, hulls dry as a bone, but deck not so much! Thanks in advance, and hope ok posting here. Chris
  20. Thanks, will give them a call tomorrow. What they like price wise? Found such a mix online.
  21. Before I find a WBeam to live on, i'm currently restoring a 33 fibreglass day cruiser. The wooden strake had rotted, so am planning on replacing it with a heavy rope strake. Does anyone know where to buy it, and the best method for fixing to a FG deck.
  22. Thanks for all advice so far guys.
  23. Hi G&F. Thats great, thanks for the help so far.
