Im in the same situation as you as my boat should be ready around christmas time and I too decided quickly that this is what I wanted to do. So good luck.

Can anyone help?? New and confused - not a good combination !! My boat will be ready by Christmas and I really didn't pay too much attention when my ex-partner was explaining his internet set-up on his boat. I will be using the boat as my home and for work I need to have internet connectivity plus I would like to have sky. I use a laptop so what is the best way to set this up and install a satellite system. I have looked at a few web sites but ready need to find one that says "idiots guide to setting up -------" I will of course be asking my boat builder but I just wanted to see if I could find out more first. Thanks in advance

Allan sorry wasn't very specific at all really. Although I live in Staffordshire at the moment I can move south and still be OK for work. I do know that I wont be able to go around most of the canal system where I presently live but thats not a problem as Ive spent the last 1 1/2 yrs cruising them at weekends and holidays with my ex partner. My reason for the widebeam is that having now decided to sell up and buy a boat, realistically I need something wider to set up a home office and as I regulary end up with overnight guests its seems my best option. The choice for a marina is that I would feel happier as Im on my own and need to build on the knowledge I have plus I love the community aspects. Thanks, Ive been up to Mercia and was intending on getting a boat from there but I have got such a great deal from the boatbuilder. Hi. I'm a newbie buying my first boat and have opted for a 60 x 10 ft Widebeam. I'm based in the Midlands on Terra Firma at present so would like to stay around that area if possible. I'm looking for a secure marina that allows pets and preferably has a pub on site or very near so that there is a place where I can meet my neighbours - any suggestions ??
