  1. Hi all Over last week's very cold spell the light on the engine temperature warning light came on, accompanied by the it's sister, the terrifying beeeeeping sound. I switched the engine off and hoped that the complaint was about the ridiculously low temperature, but as switched it on again last night it happened again. I'm now guessing the engine is overheating and not very cold. (Sorry for not knowing much about engines by the way). So which one is it and what are the most likely causes of this? Thanks a lot
  2. Hi Any recommendations on service parts for the Cananline engines? I have a 52 I should service soon. Looking for oil and air filters, mostly. The "original" Canaline parts are a bit expensive and I've seen a few on ebay but not sure... Any tried and tested sellers/links? Thanks
  3. Fair enough, one can have a facebook account with very little personal information.
  4. Following a recent issue I had with my starter motor, I serched for information on facebook on canaline engines and found nowt. It would be great to have one, as a first port of call when doubts or issues arise. Would anyone be interested in starting one? I could do it myself, of course, but it would be better that someone with at least a working knowledge of engines be the main admin. Something like "Canaline and Isuzu boat engines" or something? Even without knowing more about engines than how to change the oil, I already know of a couple of tips that could save Canaline boat owners a lot of money and grief, following my recent troubles. Those could be logged in the facebook group for later ref. Of course, if they could be duplicated in this forum somewhere, possibly. Please let me know your thoughts.
  5. Thanks everybody. It was a perfect match and very easy to replace. Absolutely no need to tamper with anything. Canaline want £550 for it, I got it for £160 from the abovementioned ebay shop. Draw your own conclusions.
  6. Did you? I didn't get a notification but will look very soon. Thanks
  7. I tried to trace it but it's in a hose like conduit. I will have to cut it open which I really want to avoid. Hopefully someone with a Canaline panel will be able to look behind it and send me a photo or tip.
  8. You're right white is ognition and I've cconnectd that according to the manual diagram. These cables are thinner but one has a black stripe. Shame i can't post photos here. It would be more clear. 4 wires on the diagram and 5 on my boat!!
  9. There are two wires together - white and white with black stripe) that are not mentioned in the wiring diagram. Any idea what that connects to in the ignition?
  10. Actually, just looked in the manual and there's a Cable colour list
  11. Hi. I recently destroyed my ignition and a kind soul gave me a replacement he had. The replacement has a few initials by the different tabs (h for heat, in for ignition, etc) but the wires (photo) don't. Does anyone know the wire colour code? Thanks
  12. It's actually this one, which seems to be the same anyway... The ref printed on the dead alternator is a match (Mando MG117559). http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SL1325-MANDO-KIOTI-DAEDONG-CK25-Cub-Cadet-8354-DK35-DK40-DK45-Starter-Motor-/371694564703?hash=item568ab8f55f:g:aiYAAOSwH71XPa2K
  13. Hi Sir Nibble. Are you talking about the supporting brackets? Surely not if you mention "strip down". I'll wait until it arrives, perhaps when I try to fit it in the place of the old one it will become clear.
  14. Is the nose the part that goes inside the mother engine? I'll see if it's a good fit when it arrives.
  15. "You might have to graft the nose of the fried one onto a -63015 I suspect." What does that mean Richard??
  16. These guys sell it too. I'll order on first thing tomorrow http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/SL1325-KIOTI-DAEDONG-KUBOTA-L5740-V1902B-Starter-Motor-/371567475188?hash=item568325b9f4%3Ag%3AxNcAAOSwPc9Wu0QM&_trkparms=pageci%253A04ff11f7-737d-11e6-b861-005056bb6365%257Cparentrq%253Afaf491b61560a6a5ca28c3d4fff68912%257Ciid%253A1
  17. I just called Canaline and they told me the starter motor for my Canaline 52 costs £552! Is this acceptable? If so is there a cheaper alternative?
  18. Sorry guys. Been on the phone by the motor bay. Yes, starter motor not engine. May not be knackered just solenoid gone. The problem was caused by my stupid hot wirinh. Starter motor stayed on so it kapputed. Not sure about the extent of the damage until it gets looked at. In the meantime I'll get the ign replacement.
  19. Hi. I lost my ignition key. This morning i try to "hit wire" the engine. It worked for a bit then i burnt the starter engine. Dies anyone know where i can order suitable replacements from? The ignition key hole is abiut 26mm in diameter. Thanks in advance for any links and tips Sorry for the typos. Crap new phone
  20. Got one in the mail. Tomorrow will fit it and test it with my digital multimeter. I'm particularly interested to find out if the current readings are reliable, as it's fairly difficult (for me) to carry out a proper amp reading by disconnecting the wires, etc.
  21. I cannot read amperage with the way the connection is, without opening the circuit. Will get one of those gadgets magnean suggested above, or similar.
