  1. Crikey this is so bloody complicated!! I'll think I'll start again, using the RYA template instead. Thanks Cheese
  2. That was the original plan. The seller said he'll meet me at his bank to do the transfer so I thought we could have one person to witness the signatures too.
  3. Something like this? This is really an adaptation of my friend's document I included on my first post here. Please feel free to suggest corrections. As the moving of the boat is post-contract and a courtesy agreed verbally, should the paragraph where it is mentioned be completely removed for the sake of simplicity? Thanks
  4. Thanks for all the info regarding banking scams but that's not really what I was looking to have answered. I'm more looking for suggestions for Bill of Sale or other documents suitable for a private boat purchase. Thanks
  5. I'm really just trying to get the boat ownership papers organised, following the payment. The delivery of the boat is a.courtesy from my part after the sale is done. I shouldn't have mentioned it, in hindsight, as that's just a detail. Yes That's what I thought too...
  6. Wow. I did know know about that. Well if he published his details on the paper, and being a wealthy and well known person, I suppose he posed a challenge to the best hacking minds all over the globe. Scary stuff.
  7. Thanks David The buyer is not an experienced driver and there's central London and a tunnel in between where the boat is and where he wants it to be.
  8. I don't understand that one. Can anyone but the bank account holder remove money from a bank account? How? Yes that is definitely a concern but I'm only at the stage of deciding what document of sale is appropriate at the moment.
  9. Thanks Yank. I'll add anything relevant to this deal. Money cannot be removed by a personal account once it is deposited unless by the account holder, I don't think. I'd never hear that one before. On a massive boat and in London that would be quite impossible but I'm interested in knowing about that scam for any other sales I may be involved in the future.
  10. Hi Alan Thanks but I really do not wish to have a third party involved, and definitely not a solicitor. I think the buyer trusts me and will send me the money, but I just want to make sure I'm handling the paperwork correctly. With this new facility of checking one's bank balance over the phone it should be easy, I hope. Also, the bank transfer in addition to a pre-signed documents would be good enough proof that a sale had taken place, would it not? I'm mostly concerned about the suitability of the documents.
  11. Hello again So the situation from here changed for the better ? I let the buyer who wanted the ridiculously large contract go a few weeks ago (a contract from a template which he also altered!!) and now I have two cash buyers interested in the boat. I do not require a deposit and neither of them require a survey, so what would be the best and easiest way to conclude this deal? Both buyers would require the boat to be delivered a long way away from where it is now, which I am very happy to oblige as it will be a sort of farewell to my beloved vessel, but I do not wish to have that on the contract, and I am only willing to take off after the money is in my account. I will leave naturally all the paperwork from when I originally purchase the boat with them, but as I may leave the country next year I want to make sure they will have a solid contract should they wish to sell the boat on later. I also obviously want to make sure that I don't have any problems. So I'm thinking: 1. I fill the simple bill of sale similar to the one from a friend of mine I'm posting here (but without the "and delivers to" bit) and post it to the buyer. 2. He fills his bit. 3. He wires the money to my account. 4. From the moment I check the money is in my account the boat is his, and I notify the Canal and River Trust and the insurance company. Am I supposed to have a copy of the bill of sale or do we both fill and sign one copy for each? Am I missing stuff? This bill of sale does not say anything like "upon receipt of funds". Please let me know what you think. Thanks
  12. There's something else I had no idea about. I always assumed a deposit would never be refundable. I could not be bother with demanding a deposit so didn't even look into it. If the buyer is taking the expense of paying for a survey, he's definitely serious about buying the thing...
  13. Yes I got that from your previous replies. Not so much an ownership transfer but a contract to make sure I will actually bring the boat to the surveyor and what would follow, most of which are obvious and should not be mentioned, like the one that states the buyer can either not buy the boat or negotiate a discount depending on what the surveyor finds. Thanks a lot.
  14. You're quite right it is the same document. I've included in my post but not sure others can see it. At the end of my test there should be a link to download a word doc named ''bill of sale redacted" Sorry: "it in my post" and "at the end of my text"
  15. Thanks both. So where do you think this 10 page thing applies for? It's like not even similar to either one of your examples. By the way, my boat is not a yatch but a canal widebeam. I may have used unclear language on my original post.
  16. Hi All I'm not new to boating but the guys who want to buy my boat are, so I hope I'm posting this under the correct topic. When I purchased my boat the bill of sale from the brokers was 1 1/2 pages long; a friend of mine who sold her boat in 2017 used a one-page doc. My boat's buyers sent me a ten page (yes, 10) template which they downloaded from the RYA website which to me seems excessive, by being unduly minutious and I think not reasonable for this section of the boat market. I'm attaching the one bill sale from my friend here (photo) and the ten page template I was sent by my boats buyers (word format). Could it be that this RYA document was intended for really boaty boats, including multi million pound vessels? Obviously there's a mention of a "sea trial" and "necessary crew", but also there seem to be provisions to stop the seller from disappearing into the wide open sea after getting the payment as well as a few others odd bits. Anyone care to opine and even posting redacted templates of the bills of sale you have used?bill of sale redacted.docx Many thanks
  17. Sorry, why do you still have one then? Thanks a lot. This is the kind or problem I was wondering about when I first though of it. Air locks or some kind of "suction" effect.
  18. The starter battery is connected to a dedicated 40W solar panel so it should be ok. I don't expect the pump to run a lot quite frankly.
  19. Well I'm not in a marina and the buffalo boards are fairly heavy to lift (widebeam) and I don't always have mates with boats moored nearby. I would also fit an inline fuse so that's one more thing that could go wrong on top of the pump malfunctioning as you very well said. The starter battery was quite cheap so worst case scenario would be abnormally heavy rain fall and the pump not waking up.
  20. Thanks. I think this one (or perhaps another one I looked at) switches on at 2 inches of water and off at 1 inch.
