    A few things to check. Thanks all for your assistance. We’ve been out for 3 months and just returning to base. Symptoms have been present throughout our 400 hours of the trip. BM

    When my alternator is initially recharging my batteries my tachometer is indicating around 1100 rpm and charging voltage is about 13.1. However I know actual rpm is nearer 1700. After 2 or three hours of charging the charging voltage is 14.1 or slightly above and the tachometer is reading 1700. Is there a problem with the alternator or tachometer?
