  1. Have had my boat a few months now and i check engine and gear oil levels every day of cruising.Battery levels every couple of days.Is this similar to others here? Its my first boat but have a reasonable level of experience with other vehicle engines. To me it seems checking so frequently is a overkill..... Ian

  5. This is to nb Harmony...i have the same victron as you.Are you saying that if your victron is switched off you have no 240 supply on your boat? When im on shore power it doesnt come through the inverter while it is either switched off or in charge only mode. Cheers, Ian.
  6. Anyone going this weekend? Ian
  7. I have a GI fitted just a little wary still...as for frost protection does this mean you are able to forget about the usual winterisation procedures such as water draining ? Ian
  8. Hi, My boat has 4x 110 plus starter batteries charged via a victron unit.Through summer it is cruised 2 0r 3 weekends a month plus 3 or 4 weeks. As winter approaches i am wondering what the best method is to look after the batteries?I expect we will use the boat for odd weekends cruising weather permitting.I am not to keen on leaving shoreline power plugged in continuously when away from the boat as i am uneasy about the effects of stray electric currents.....So was thinking leave them off charge then plug in the odd night we are on boat in marina plus obviously they will be charged when we take boat out.Any thoughts on wether this will be ok for the batteries? when boat is left empty they will be isolated. Ian

  10. As fairly new boaters we are intending to go to Foxton next weekend. Will travel to Foxton from Crick direction.First question can we turn around at Foxton without having to go into any locks?Secondly what can we expect at Foxton? very busy ? hard to moor etc? Ian
  11. Hi, I have a cruiser stern without seating for the tillerman.I would like to have a seat which can be removed easily as required.Maybe fix a table type tube and floor support to the hexboard engine cover so a simple seat can be attached? Ian
  12. Sounds similar Bobby,i shall live with it a while and see what develops. As i said it only lasts a few seconds then all is as should be. Keith,i have only owned boat since July, she had 220 hrs then ,now up to 280 ish.Iwondered about lack of use actually as i own old cars and motorcycles which are much better if used regulary. Thanks for advice all. Regards, Ian.

  17. Thanks Alex..weed hatch suggestion is interesting, its a strange sound as tho water is struggling to flow correctly then it sort of all comes together and quietens down to a nice sort of quiet wooshing sound. Ian
