  1. Thanks for these, keep em coming! Someone said Bow Thruster on the weekend too, that works for me :-)
  2. Ah Bottom Blacking, what a great name for a stout! Keep em coming!
  3. Some good ones coming in, I like Monkey Fist although it also sounds like something sordid! Flat bottom is good too! Bumble hole would be good for a honey beer but I think that's specific to another canal isn't it?
  4. I hope so, keep em coming! Bridgehopper has a ring to it :-)
  5. Ha, thanks, that would sell well!
  6. Hello Folks There's a new brewing company starting up in Wiltshire that will eventually (subject to various planning stuff) be alongside the K&A. That brewery are looking for some great names for their beers relating either specifically to the K&A or generic canal themed. Anything you come up with that gets used, you'll get invited to the launch and get a free case or mini cask of that beer. Already got Pill Box Pale, Gongoozle, Rusty Lane and Dundas but need a few more. Get yer thinking caps on folks. Cheers Malc
  7. Ah that was a great night with Boo, hope to have him back, probably for the festival next year. We've got two very special dates in November. On November 1st we have the legendary Richard Digance and then on November 15th we have James Hickman & Dan Cassidy, Dan being the fiddle playing younger brother of Eva Cassidy who played on all her original material. Only 50 tickets available for each of those and only 40 are left for each. Should have mentioned above that it's advisable to order in advance as we have limited capacity for both the club and the festival. We're open tomorrow night by the way, just £3 to get in, cheap beer and cider and free chocolates plus the lovely sounds of The Yirdbards Thanks for the positive response. Cheers Malc
  8. Morning all Right, I realise you have policies on advertising on here and understandably so but I had a conversation with a boater at Honeystreet yesterday who told me I should post some 'What's On' stuff on here as it would be of interest to many of you that are either living onboard or passing through on holiday. So I'm promoting our village which lies on the canal. I live in the village, am on the committee for the community centre and also run the twice monthly acoustic nights. The village is a thriving community with loads happening all the time and yet you could sail by underneath and barely know it exists save for The Barge and The Brewery pubs in Seend Cleeve. The best way to get to Seend from the Kennet & Avon is to moor up between Sells Green and Bollands Hill road junctions and walk up through the woods track from the Rusty Lane swing bridge No.151 and as soon as it levels out you'll find the community centre (with bar serving real ales and ciders, snooker and pool) a well equipped modern play park and just a further short walk to the village shop with post office, a beautiful church and stunning views across to Salisbury plain and down the valley to Westbury all of which you can't see from the canal. There's another pub called The Bell and there's an old Wesleyan Chapel still in use. It's also great to walk along the back fields behind the church and see the beautiful properties that overlook the valley. At the moment we're running our 'Famous Saturday Breakfasts' that we do each year throughout July and August and it is open to all, there are just two more left this year, we open at 7.30 and close at 9.30 in the community centre, all are welcome and we use fresh local ingredients, free range eggs etc and there are newspapers on sale, tis a great gathering of people. Here's the big one, on September 10th we're holding Seend's first Acoustic Music Festival with some amazing talented artists from the area and further afield, there'll be a small real ale and cider fest and delicious food catering for all tastes plus various stalls. It runs from 12 noon to 11.30pm and tickets are available as all day or just afternoon or just evening. The great thing about it for you guys is you can have a few beers, a great day out and just stroll half a mile downhill back to your boat, I'd get there a couple of days in advance though as we're expecting that part of the canal to be ram packed on the day. All that we raise here goes back into keeping the community centre going which itself is a registered charity. Boaters are welcome at all our events. For more information on the festival go to http://seendacoustic.org/festival and for Seend in general go to http://www.seend.org.uk And if you want to know anything more, feel free to ask me but above all, don't go past Seend without having a wander around our lovely village! Cheers Malc
