  1. Great guys - thanks for this, just as a tip though, how much engine running time is needed for a 12v fridge? I know it will vary, but just roughly???
  2. any of you have any tips on which brand is best or which model etc?
  3. so im guessing the consensus is that if you are going to have a fridge, get a 12v?
  4. lol thanks Martin - but if you're inverter also charges your batteries?? Is it still better not to have it on all the time?
  5. 4 hours cruising a day just to run the fridge?! there's no way we're gonna be able to do that much! Be easier to just buy bloody food as and when you need it and take a taxi back and forth to sainsburys (cheaper too!) BY THE WAY, whats the problem with having the inverter on 24/7?
  6. Just been looking at gas fridges too - wayy too expensive. Ive just had an inverter installed which also charges the batteries- could I just run a normal 240v fridge in the boat?
  7. Ah ah!! It wasn't actually aimed at you! Your other point is also true about them doing it because they hide behind a made up name........... I think maybe its just different people's preference and tolerance to things?
  8. Ah ah! Thanks gibbo, but dont think I can go that "green" yet. What about other stuff you have? Or do you do most of your shopping day to day? Get things as and when you need them?
  9. Hi guys What type of fridges do you lot have (especially all you liveaboards) 12V or normal 240v???
  10. true gibbo - except people online seem to get so much more openly aggravated than they do in the real world. Some of the threads I've read on here for example(!), where things are said that those people wouldn't dare say to a fella in the real world for risk of getting their faces smacked in (and rightly so!) Its known that there is no tone of voice online or in text and therefore things can get misconstrued and that could cause some people to turn nasty and perhaps carry out a revenge in the real world. I would therefore personally prefer to stay anonymous online (and as much as I can in the real world as well) to avoid such characters and behaviours and I have very good reason to especially when a friend of mine had a cross word with someone via an internet forum (they had all their details there, boat name included) and then a few days later their boat was firebombed....Coincidence? Maybe. Would rather not take my chances
  11. Absolutely with you on that one - there are SO many psychos on the internet and so I'll never divulge any more information than my username on here, not even my boat name, simply because you just don't know what people are capable of. Scary.
  12. HI Guys Does anyone know any good joiners/carpenters in the Northwich area of Cheshire who might be able to put some internal walls/doors in for me, preferably in the next week! Difficult getting hold of good contacts! Cheers, much appreciated!
  13. Thanks blackrose - you've been a great help Will print all that off so I remember when I'm tearing my hair out my head when trying to fit it!!! Arrgh!
  14. LOL Thanks blackrose- what IS the need for the second cassette though straight away? Can I not just get one of those extra ones in a few months???? Also, didn't I read somewhere that it should be the 40mm hose or the vaccuum isn't quite right? Do you get any smells with your Vacuflush?
  15. ARRRRRRGGGGH Can anyone help as Leeson are really f*cking me off with keep arguing! They do a Vaccuflush toilet set which is the toilet, vacuum and 2x cassette tanks for £1200. However, we are moored right next to a santiation point so feel we only need 1 x cassette - I keep explaining this to Leeson via email and to give me a price for just the one cassette.... They keep coming back arguing saying "you're going to need 2x cassettes as Dometic have now discontinued this toilet" . Yes I know they have but I only want to buy 1 cassette (budget issues!) and am looking out on ebay for a cheaper second one..... Rather than keep arguing the toss with Leesan, can you guys advise (those that already have these toilets especially!) if this is all I would need to get..... The toilet : http://www.leesan.co.uk/index.asp?m=3&cat1=4&cat2=29&p=243&t=Toilets+for+Vacuum+Toilets The cassette/vaccum: http://www.leesan.co.uk/index.asp?m=3&cat1=4&cat2=29&p=418&t=Toilets+for+Vacuum+Toilets Leesan won't bloody well tell me!!!! Please help guys Love always From someone who really needs to get a toilet sorted soon....
  16. I can get the vacuflush from leesan with 2 cassettes for £1200?
  17. Dean I'm all for the cassette - I dont like the thought , for example of having a massive tank of shite under my bed! Ewwwwwwww!! But its a toss up between the vacuuflush and a standard cassette (thetford or dometic) Has anyone given those power ball things a go (like the liquid chemical stuff) in the cassette? Do they work?
  18. Who here has the Dometic/Sealand Vacuflush VT2510 then?! Any good?
  19. The Sealand 2510 it is then!
  20. I know there's already a lot of threads on here about toilet types etc but just wanted to ask you guys a quick question. Does anyone have a Dometic cassette toilet like this one :http://www.leesan.co.uk/index.asp?m=3&cat1=4&cat2=16&p=106&t=Toilets+for+Cassette+Toilets Basiclaly, when someone opens the "valve" (grey on the bottom of the toilet_ that opens up the bottom of the toilet ready for the waste to be dispoed of. However, does it just open up to a box of sh*t ?! (sorry to be blunt!) Is there like a secondary container which the waste falls into first before it then goes into the main container - or is it going to be a case of every time you flush the toilet and pull that lever and open the "Trap door(!)" , you're going to be faced with a few day's worth of sh*T staring back at you and the accompanying smell!? Cheers guys!
  21. Dean you can get rads pretty cheap - we've just bought a couple £32 each. Not a massive expense to get some heat further down the boat!
  22. Can you not just have a minimum angle on the pipe though? Such as from stove to End of boat being a total of 6 or 7 inches? Surely it should still work?
  23. Thanks Smelly - but what about those Bolin pumps everyone is talking about? Its only 12v and supposed to be pretty reliable?
  24. Thanks for all the advice guys- still a bit confused about the how great the rise of pipes needs to be! Dominic - i'm totally NOT with you on that one! I find pipework vulgar, and it reminds me (no offence) of ill-fitted council houses! Nothing more ghastly than copper pipes all over the bleedin place!
  25. Yes that's what I dont want - pipes half way up the walls!
