  2. "I think they hand out a free pillow per referral, if that is the case, I think it should have been mentioned by the OP" The OP would of if he 1.Knew he did,or 2.If he thought it would make a blind bit of difference to anyone's life in any way shape or form. they just said I'd get a 'thanks, also' I don't need another pillow, I've only got one head! I was only trying to be helpful as I know the Simbas are expensive and I spent ages looking for a discount code. "I am rather wary of the Simba T&C "friend referral" strategy. I really don't give out my email to all and sundry for them to use for their marketing purposes." They already had my email for the order information. "It's quite put me off the Simba mattress," Why on earth would the fact you can (shock announcement ? )get a free Pillow! or £50 off put you off and fantastically made product with great reviews and it has to be said, great marketing? Anyway. Small dissection of post over, I'm going for a lie down
  3. Yep, we toyed with the idea for ages... it's a lot of money. But well worth it.
  4. Right. Nothing much to do with boating life here but I'm trying to be helpful. In case any of you folk were thinking of buying a Simba mattress I've just been sent a link for £50 off. I know we all like to save a few pennies where possible after Christmas. I think you can use it as much as you want. Feel free to share. https://simba.mention-me.com/m/ode/nw0vc-ian-underwood if asked the email i used was ian@kinvercanopies.co.uk oh, I can also confirm my back feels soooooo much better and my nights sleep are great... takes a couple of sleeps to get used to it but after that its amazing.
  5. Just looked you up on W3W and you really need to use it... It's the best one yet. ///giant.risk.sunk That's actually your location.
  6. It's used 98.9 Mb on my phone, which is small if you think Twitter is about 110mb and facebook loads more!
  7. I think you'll be this one ///bronzes.snowmen.symphony Should be out in 2 to 3 weeks to crack on with yours
  8. Oh, Does than mean that they're onto us and will start charging a fortune if we find another customer But at the rate that this thread is going I some how doubt it's going to take over the canal network. So maddietaylor87 Is there some magical bunff I should be putting on our website to make it all good with what3words. Or a simple introduction to It that will help spread the word. I'm really impressed at how smooth it is. Anything we can do to get it out there.
  9. Hey, don't shoot the messenger. I was just trying to help people that might like a nice simple way of getting someone to their boat, I for one quite like it. If you can't remember three words that's fine. Stick with google, it was just an option. My thinking was I could just print the words with the job sheet, so the lads can just type it in off the paper work. That's what I meant. Easier than typing in an internet address like you'd get with google maps. Anyway the choice is there if anyone wants to use it and we are quite happy to find people using it, or google or still with basic directions.. But the more choices the better for all involved.
  10. My thinking was I could just print the words with the job sheet, so the lads can just type it in off the paper work. That's what I meant. Easier than typing in an internet address like you'd get with google maps. I wasn't very clear.
  11. We've got the apps on our phone now. So if we are out on site you could just give us the three words over the phone. we type them in and locate you., You can't do that with goggle maps.
  12. Hi All. I'd just like to bring to your attention, But many of you may already know about what3words. Its a really brilliant website that can locate any 3m x 3m square of land by using three words. So for example the front door of our unit is.. https://map.what3words.com/famed.thick.former I just think its brilliant, A customer gave us his exact boat location the other day, so rather than just "I'm at bridge 42 about 10mins walk up the towpath, there's no name on the boat but I'm next to one with coal on the roof" or " I think its jetty 12 but it could be 47" It was "I'm at grouping.glorified.tolerates" and knew exactly where it was after 2 seconds. I think this is such a simple but effective way of safely sharing your location. Imagine if you've broken down.. you can direct an engineer directly to you. Yes I know it's just using Long and Lat numbers but it's really simple. Think I'm going to add it to our website order form. Well done what3words.
  13. Ah, That explains the price you have been quoted. What you require takes much more time and has more material, frame work and fittings. You’re after a framed cratch. As long as the length is below 7’ then they retail at £1098.09 in PVC and £1212.77 in HW acrylic canvas. Same spec as in the photo. If you want to add two window covers then it’s an extra £99.23 These prices include all VAT, fitting and a 5 year material guarantee.
  14. Hi Ours start at About £620 Inc VAT. All depends. on what you want. Here's my normal reply to the standard question "How much is a cratch?" Based on an average 5' Cratch I’ll break down the price for you. The Blank cratch ( no windows or zips) retails at £687.96 in PVC and £740.88 in HW Acrylic Canvas. Then we come to the extras ; Each Zip you would like is £46.31 , This includes splitting the cover and turning back the edge of each zip to avoid fraying, A zip cover storm flap, Branded material zip pullers and roll up straps for the open section. Each window you would like in the cover is £36.38 ( size and location can be decided on site) If you require window covers to protect the windows from dirt /UV and also for security to hide the contents of your bow they are £49.61 each. This includes turn button fittings to lock the covers down and roll up straps to keep them up when light is required. Decorative coloured edge pipe work is also available at £8.40 per running foot. Hope this is clear and you can work out what you would like in your cover.
  15. Thanks, we have contacted them. They have been very helpful indeed so far.
  16. Hi, Does anyone know of a RELIABLE painter in the Harefield ( or that will travel there) area that could do a small bit of touching up on a boat. We have a boat that was obviously painted in damp or cold conditions or with poor prep that has had some paint come off on removal of tape. Many thanks. We've tried a few but been let down every time.
  17. Here at Kinver Canopies We have a position open for a person to prepare our covers before they are fitted. We would like to open it out the the boating community before we advertise as we prefer to have people who actually have a passion and interest in their work. Ideally the applicants should be local to us (or willing to travel). It would start as a full time roll whilst training was given and then hours could be arranged to suit both parties. Any Interest please email a CV of some description to sales@kinvercanopies.co.uk
  18. Just wanted to bump this post.. We are having a few of these jobs again.. Check with your painters before it's too late
  19. Here is the content from the link if thats's what you wanted. About -- Navigation --About Ice Breaker Demanded For Kinver As Canal Freezes A Bit Posted on 12th December 2017 by koladmin • 0 Comments As temperatures plummeted last night, Kinver’s canals took the brunt of the cold as they froze over, making it a bit harder for boats to move. And owners aren’t happy. Dave Guthridge, a canal user, contacted Kinver.info to vent his anger. “It’s absolutely outrageous. There are gritters for the roads and grit bins in streets, but we’ve had ice now for the second time in as many decades, and it makes it harder to move my boat. Car drivers yet again get preferential treatment.” A consortium of boat users has teamed up to demand South Staffordshire Council provide an ice breaker boat for such situations. Our climate reporter, Mike Littisore, contacted South Stafforshire Council to ask their opinion. A representative said, “Unfortunately it’s unlikely to ever happen. We had our finance team run through the costs and benefits, and we found the cheapest ice breaker class boat would cost about £430,000. The current cost to the economy of ice on the canal is somewhere in the region of zero pounds, making it economically unviable.” We put these comments to Dave, and he said “That’s typical of the short-sighted attitude of pencil pushing office workers who don’t see the real trauma for us on the water ways. We pay our taxes, too, we need to be looked after just like everyone else. But more so.” South Stafforshire council refused to take any more calls on the matter.
  20. Bit of a giggle from the guys who run Kinvers little ‘not info’ site http://kinver.info/ice-breaker-demanded-kinver-canal-freezes-bit/
  21. This is going cheap as chips.make an offer
  22. Right, just to let you know... (at the risk of getting back on topic) That i have tested our cheaper fan against a more expensive fan. Result. I my opinion it was better!! It moved about the same amount of air but started sooner and stayed on longer. If anyone is interested I'll try to do a video of them both at the same time with something to show the air movement for each. I'll also try and get a duck in there somewhere.
