  1. Cheers for the moral support. We've been out since and much easier both times at mooring, one stern and one bow. Our first lock as an experience!! With the fenders down it was very tight but I wouldnt want to be in the lock with the fenders up either!
  2. Thanks Alan, you should have popped your head out and I now appreciate your point re the "pram hood" lol. On our return the hood was indeed down and I still really struggled, hoping practice, training and ruddersafe might improve things in due course.
  3. I hear you! - fine weather may be a minimum requirement as a result! Yes, we had smiles and enjoyed the experience and had plenty of waves and smiles back. Thanks - I am hoping ruddersafe when fitted will help with tricky moves!
  4. So... we took Time Out for her first run today and took the advice to turn left from Aston and travel to Sandon winding hole and come back (no locks). First mistake... didn't take canopy down and had to stop before first bridge to drop said item, phew. Second mistake.... the water level! - didn''t give it a thought and then at the next bridge it was way too close for comfort, fortunately we dropped down the wind shield and all was then well, phew. Third "mistake" ... on our return to Aston we really struggled to moor (windy was sliding us) and ended up mooring across from our berth with the assistance of some very kind people (Malcolm and Gill), third phew!!! So all in all it was a bit stressful but generally enjoyable and practice and some training will no doubt improve things.

    Time Out on the move

Moving my new (to me) 28" GRP Viking NB
  6. Well, after some previous drama on transport today went perfectly and Time Out is happily moored at Aston. Now to practice and getting a few bits and bobs sorted! Happy days
  7. Former - yes, good little site for us "Vikings"
  8. Wow, that's a big fast lock!
  9. Sorry road, complete novice and don't have the time to take off right now. Would consider a water based mover if they can do it fairly soon. Gutted as booked transporter has let me down, was due to move it tomorrow.
  10. Boat transporter let me down so now need to find a new one! 28' Grp narrow beam to move from Worcester to staffs.
  11. Disaster! Boat transporter let me down so now need to find a new one! 28' Grp narrow beam to move from Worcester to staffs.

  13. No worries, thanks for the update
