Hi
We have a jabsco par max 3.5 which recently as been running on when the tap as been turned off for about 30 seconds a lot longer than normal. I have set the accumulator to 15 psi and cannot see any leaks around the pump. As anyone got any ideas of why it's running on for so long.
Thanks

Well thank you all. I tilted the genny slightly back and over filled with oil slightly the genny now runs without stopping. Just curious why it only works slightly over filled though

Thanks Wrinkley I'll let you know. I'll stick to gas because it's cheaper for me a 13kg bottle is about 15 quid and I usually get about 35ish hours out of it
-
Thanks I'll top it up with oil it's at the bottom of the neck at the moment. So I'll tip it back and put some more in and try it

It was doing the same with the old plug. Once running it runs great, just developed the start up niggle. Oil is at the bottom neck of the filler but I'll top it up by tilting genny back when I get home

I have an honda EU20I which I converted to run on gas over 12 months ago it's always started and ran fine, but recently it as started after a few pulls runs for a while and then cuts out it might do this 2 or 3 times and then it runs without any problems. Plenty of gas, new plug, new oil, filters clean all gas connections tight. Anyone else had the same problem or got any ideas.

Do you know if they do a rebuild manual for this genny. I've seen the maintenance one. I have taken the large outer casing off and checked the tappets and springs which seem okay. But the genny turns over easily by hand so I think it as lost its compression. Is it worth rebuilding if it as thrown a ring. But would like to find a manual to help me strip it down. Cheers

Hi
I have a kipor KDE6700T diesel generator which was running fine then it spluttered a few times it ran on for about another 40 minutes then stopped altogether. The oil is full and clean, I have changed the fuel and filter and bled the system. Whilst cranking over the genny the exhaust lets out puffs of white smoke but does not start. I have not taken the injector out to see if fuel is passing through okay I thought that the puffs of white smoke were a sign of fuel entering the pot. Would compression fail just like that without warning.

Thanks for your replies what sort of reading should I be getting on a 5 yr old battery if I put a meter across them when they are fully charged. Do I need to disconnect the batteries individually for a true reading. I just assumed that 5 yrs was a good life and they may need changing. Probably me being ott. The batteries are Varta LFD 180, no shore power charghing is by 960 w solar, engine and genny

Hi
My varta batteries are about just over 5 years old and probably about due for renewal. The cheapest I can find is £175 each and I need 3. Can anyone recommend a good alternative battery with the same lug positions or know of any cheaper vartas. Would it be worth considering 6 x 6v trojan t105 batteries I know they would cost more but what would I gain out of using 6v instead of 12v batteries. I'm on the understanding 3 x vartas will give me 540 ah and the trojans will give me 675 ah but would the extra ah be worth the extra cost. We have 960 watts of solar. 12v fridge, 12v lights and 240 v tv through inverter are usually run off the batteries. The microwave, wm is either run from the travel pack or genny..
Thanks

Is it just best to sprinkle sand by hand or can I use some sort of application. Is kiln dried sand any good

Hi
Can anyone recommend a carpenter close to market drayton to make us a new dinnette table. The old old one can be used as a template and I will deliver to you. My wife decided to sand the top of the table which is only a ash ply finish but it got ruined in the sanding process. So any help would be appreciated
Thanks

When I got back to the mooring one of the lads near me who works at norbury wharf had already heard what had been going on. So who knows

I can assure you that I'm no thief. After loosing my leg at 17 I have worked all my life and never claimed anything. What I have is what I've worked hard for

Well there have been a fair few comments on facebook and not all good. I will copy and paste a few examples if you like. Perhaps I have gone about the way I asked the wrong way, but I work hard like many for what I have and I wish to keep it. I've been on the canal for about 4 and 1/2 years and found that canal gossip can be rife and best left but when a number of people mention the same boat or person then I listen. If the mods feel that this post should be removed then please do so and I apologise for sharing my concerns with the forum.
