  1. I brought 2 new chairs for the new boat, and done a deal on a new fridge and toilet!

took me ages to get round the show as kept getting stopped by people wanting to say hello to my Dogclapping.gif always happy for people to say hello to him!

so if anyone stopped to say hello to the English Bull terrier on Sat then that was me and my hubby

  2. Is it a white lead? Wouldn't want to trip over him.

    hahahahaha unfortunately not lol

although we have said a few times that he needs a white stick that we could attatch to his head so he stops bumping into things lol

  3. smile.png bestest luck with the change of boat , and Tig is gorgeous reminds me a lickle of my Tilly who was a coloured 'bully' all the 'bullies' that I have owned have loved the water the lickle rascals smile.png as my boat is only lickle I am thinking of a minature bully to be my nextest bestest pal smile.png

    Thank youclapping.gif

They are great dogs aren't theybiggrin.png

  4. If you are incapable of keeping your dog under control and it is being a nuisance then I would exercise my right to remove it.

If you then chose to commit an act of violence to exacerbate your incompetence then you would receive similar treatment.

That said if I did remove your dog and it appeared to be in difficulty then you wouldn't have to resort to violence as I would be in the canal rescuing it before you reached us.

I would suggest that the best place for a blind dog is on the end of a lead so you don't put it in such a position.

He is always on a lead!!!!!!!!!!

  5. if anyone was to throw my dog in the canal they would be the next one to end up in the canal!!!!!

As for the reason for this reaction

1, my dog is blind so possibly hasn't realised that you are there

    2' My dog cannot swim

  6. Hope your boat change goes smoothly and you find a good home for your present boat ;o)

    Thank you

    Keeping our fingers crossed

Smashing looking hound in your avatar.

We have a Staffie. One of those, but with a squashed beak.

    Martyn

    Thanks.

That is Tig the bull terrier, He is 11 and loves boating!

  7. Thanks.

    Yes it is exciting!

nothing wrong with our current boat but we wanted a little bit more room. so going from 45foot to 58foot

We sort of didn't plain to buy a new boat. but was looking through towpath talk last month and found her, so went to have a look because we kept going back

    to look at the pics.

so as she wasn't to far away from where we moor we went to have a look!

  8. Happy to say that we have had an offer accepted on a new (not new but new to us) boat.

So in a few weeks once a few jobs have been done to her we should be able to collect her.

And the our current boat will be up for sale.

  9. I have an English Bull Terrier and he loves boating!

down side for him is he definately cannot swim as we found out when he fell off.

and he also has trouble getting on and off so has to been lifted on and off.

Hes 25kilos which is just about manageable but some of them came weigh upto 40kilos

But the plus sides are that he is short haired and happy to sleep most off the day.

which can be very handy if having a busy day.

  10. I have a cage at home for My Tig, He loves it he also has another bed that he can use if he wants to or he can be on the chair or sofa.

More often he can be found in his cage by his own choice and the door is not closed.

I also board dogs at home for a living and the cage is helpful when my boarders are coming into Tigs house, he goes in his cage whilst

the dogs come in and have a look round and settle down before they have to deal with my rather playfull dog.

Most of the dogs that i board have cages at home as well which makes things safer when i have to leave them alone in the house, they all go to their

own cages and i know they are happy and safe.

I dont feel that any of them suffer from being in their cage!

  11. Our English Bull Terrier deffinatley can not swim. He does not use his back legs for some reason

he fell of the back of our old boat once and just went under came up again then went back down,

you could see the panic in his eyes and it was a very frantic time to get him back onboard.

We had only had him for 3 weeks and thought for a moment that he would drown!

It was very scary and not something we ever want to go through again.

I got him a life jacket but he hates it and once on he will not move at all, which is not very nice

for him. So we keep him on his harness and lead when he's on the back of the boat. At least we know that he's safe

    and happy!

That was nearly 4 years ago and he still loves his boating but he is now going blind so this brings other challenges for him.

  12. They may meet one day in passing

I love to see her playing with another bully, they are such fun to watch!

yep they are fun to watch playing, i think you have to be a bully owner to know what we mean!

  13. That picture scares me! Not the dog, but the way the lead is hooked round the gears. Assume the engine was off at the time!

    Yes the engine was off!

It's lovely to see all the ships dogs in this thread. Here's another boating bully. This is our Frankie, she is 18 months old .

She's beautiful! My Tig would love her! he likes the girles!!!!!

  14. Hi, I had a share in a shared ownership boat for about 4 years and it worked really well. it meant i could spend more time on the cut without spending lots of money!

the average cost per year for me was between £1,000 and £1,500 which for 4 weeks a year boating is good value for money as you can spend that on just one week sometimes.

After our 4 years we decided to buy our own boat as we had a bit more time available to spend on the boat and wanted to be able to use when we wanted like weekends etc.

I think its a great way to get more time boating but you wont always be able to go when you want!

Oh and i brought my share for £3,000 and sold it 4 years later for £2,500

    hope that helps

  15. I have a trad stern boat, our dog normally stays just inside the engine room so hes still with us but out of the way.

sometimes he comes right up the back so he can have a look round then goes back again.

he is always keep on his harness and lead is attached to the boat as he cant swim!

I dont really think he gets in our way and i love having up the back with us.

  16. We have an English Bull Terrier, hes great on the boat as he sleeps most of the day and night, loves walkies on the towpath and loves meeting all the other dogs and people.

the down side with him is getting on and off the boat can be a bit tricky as hes not the most agile of dogs and he cannot swim as we found out when he fell off the back one

day. he does a very good sink!

  17. Hi Fee, yes we have an English Bull Terrier. She is a typical bully, very stubborn & quite lazy so not a big fan of walks, but once out & about she gets into it. Throw other people & dogs into the mix then she is in her element! She is extremely sociable & a real attention seeker biggrin.gif

Boating appears to suit her perfectly so far but at home she likes to have a mad run around now & again, it hasn't happened on the boat, yet laugh.gif

Always nice to meet a fellow bullie owner! she sounds just the same as my Tig. he hasn't managed to do a bullie shuffle on the boat either.

the only problem we have is that he can not swim and hates his life jacket!

He does a very good sink! though as we found out when he fell of the back, so now he stays attached to his harness when on the back just incase!

  18. How do you get on with your dogs in summer when it's hot? Do boats get unbearably hot inside like cars?

Our dog has taken to boating very well so far & appears to really enjoy it. She happily sits on the deck looking out whilst cruising & loves all the attention from passers by whilst moored up. We haven't left her alone very often, but when we have she is always in her bed asleep when we returned to the boat, just like when she's at home.

our boat is normally cool inside even if really hot outside so no problem with leaving them inside.

I like your profile pic! Do you have an English Bull Terrier? we have a male brindel and white called Tig, he loves the boat as his bed is there!
