  8. Hi we have just discovered that our morso stove has bits falling off it. the sides that hold the front grate to stop the coal falling out are broken off half way down. I can't see how I would replace these as they seem to be part of the side of the stove. or can I get replacement for them and if so how do they fit back in . I hope someone knows what I am talking about chris/steve
  9. Thanks again for the replies, after reading what you have al said it seems it is most important to have a really smoooth core. So this I will do, I don,t want to thin the paint as it is quite thin anyway to me, would like to put some conditioner in it though to make it flow free. Where can i get this please? as I would like to try it, and how much of it to a 5 litre tin do I use. We are going to see if we can get in the paint bay as that is covered, so should give us some protection from the breezes we get up there and the sun thanks again chris/steve
  10. Thanks for the replies I have watched that video and it amazed me so much I keep watching it lol. The paint that we used was vehicle and machinery dacrylate gloss the red oxide that we used can,t remeber the type number etc but the paint company that we bought it from said it was compatible with the paint we had bought. maybe the weather had something to do with it but when I think back I did the first coat on a none sunny day bit windy but ok and the second on a sunny day in the morning, I stopped when i saw the orange peel effect. we used a foam roller and a good brush, we will check the oxide to see if that has the orange peel on it and if so will have to smoooth that out before we start again, we may put some undercoat on too I will get advice from the paint company on that one too. I was wondering if anyone had any advice on what grade of sandpaper to use to get a nice smooth effect? Thanks for the replies so far will keep watching chris/steve
  11. Hi not been on here for ages but we are now in the process of painitng our Narrowboat. We have come across a problem we painted it in red oxide after sanding down the original paint (THE RED ONE NOT THE GREY) Then sanded that down carefuly, then we put a coat of DACRYLATE on in the colour that we wanted, bought from a shop in the town where the boat is, and its where everyone else goes too. But the effect we got was an orange peel look even after brushing off , does this mean its dried too quick before the bubbles from the roller were brushed out, we used a foam roller! or is it the red oxide? we didn't put a undercoat on, should we have done that first? if anyone has any info on what may have gone wrong please tell me before I have a breakdown some people have said its the red oxide causing this and some say the weather. but could it be the paint we used on top the DACRYLATE tech help line say the red oxide that we used is compatible with the paint we bought. Help please. chris/steve.
  12. I have tried doing some myself I have the book by Anne Young. My wife has tried too. she has done some on the computer in a graphics programme but they would have to be decals as you can only print them. I did think of getting a stencil made . but I don't know. I don't have time to go on course either I work long hours and only get one day off which is Sundays most weeks. thanks everyone though looks like I may have to get someone to do them but they are heavy to send to someone. Steve

Thats why l wanted to know where to buy a new one. there was already a spare on the boat when we bought it. I just wanna replace everything l use so that l have the spares again. I have been all over the internet and can't find anyone that does this one. even been on ebay and asked peeps that do the car ones. if they know where l can get one. KS

  17. Thanks Re; the picture. its a bit blurry the wife took it. duztee It appeared to have air in when it was over heating coz when we changed was emptying the tank as it was over flowing the water level went down, we could hear big gulps. But it is always doing this. and the thermostat was realy rusty and appeared to not be working. It might have solved the problem now, but I need a spare thermo as l like to have spares for everything. I need to find out if it is a Kd26 so that l can get the right handbook/manual for it. I am going to take a picture when l next go down. KS
  18. How do i put up a picture in here for people to see please . KS
  19. No its not like that one. I can't find a pic of one anywhere so will have to take a pic when i next go donw to the boat. I been quoted 75 plus vat for a cranking battery. and no one knows where to get the thermostat that came out of the engine. may have to ring the guy we bought the boat from as he had a spare so he will know where to get another. going to the boat show at the end of may at crick. I am looking for an inverter too. Just bought some solar panels form maplins . so batteries will have a better chance in the winter from now on. KS
  20. My Engine is Kingfisher copy so l was told when l bought the boat But l don't know much about it and l am having a few problems at the moment it keeps over heating. . I changed the thermostat and it seems ok but haven't been out on a run yet long enough to see if it over heats still I changed the water pump last year. I can't seem to find any pictures of my engine online or manuals. the John Shotbolt boats which is what mine is all seem to have the KD 26 in them. but l don't know if thats the same with mine. How can l tell. I don't know anything about engines at all l need to start learning. can anyone help. Also l need to buy a new cranking battery where is the cheapest , l don't want a cheap and nasty though l want it to last.and where can l get another thermostat so that l have a replacement on board now that l have replaced the one l had. KS

  22. Thanks. most of that went right over my head lol.. L won't be fitting them myself. wify says l am not safe to mess with the electric. she knows best eh!! I just saw some that l like the look of and wondered if l could have em in the boat. the boat ones l have seen are not very nice and they are all plastic. one thing though. do we use all the wiring in the 240 ones ot leave some of it out. l know the 12v only seems to have two wires in it. sorry to seem thick but l really am KS
