  1. Check it in 2 weeks time

I had 4" f water in the bilge when I bought this boat, pumped it out nothing since in the last 8 months.

    SNAP!!

I hopefully think you may be worrying over nothing. After about a month of owning ours I found the same problem. I vacced it out a few times and over about a month it disappeared. 18 months later. Touch wood its not returned. I think the reason been for it has been answered somewhere above.

I think I may have posted the same topic when it appeared for us.

All the best for your new lifestyle with your boat. captain.gifboat.gifcheers.gif

  2. not 100% where Justins boats will be. His yard is to the left of Midland Chandlery as you are stood at their door. The gate to the side may not be open so you'll have to drive all the way around the marina complex. If not the side gate just over the canal entrance bridge may be open.

Unless he brings all his boats around to the pontoons to the side of New and Used Boats. Been a while since I was there.

    Have a good day!!

  3. if moorings are due and money is tight stick it in a marina for sale at an inflated price so it won't sell (you get about 3 months free moorings in the sales pool), that will give you time to get sorted without having to sell it.

No brokerage marinas for miles around here GG. When I mean miles I mean miles.

  4. Can you all tell me please the pros and cons of selling a boat privately?

    Happy now Mike!

Why ? what are you selling for ?

    Dave

Sorry to say Dave, hard times are ahead. I need another job ASAP as I cant live off the hours I am getting now. Selling is not set in stone yet so you've still got me about for now. Just weighing up our choices. Time will tell! Busy looking at down sizing the house rather than sell the boat.

  5. you will find that CRT have used their tried and tested method of building a dam across the canal. They have put a complex scaffold structure across the canal to support a (very heavy duty) plastic sheet that keeps the water out - but only to a certain extent, so they have to pump out the stuff that does get past! I am not sure if they have used a clay bund too in this instance. This has been found to work quite well all over the system.

The towpath has been diverted onto the other side of the canal at the crash site, and a very expensive elevated footpath has been provided. (God knows how much that cost, but someone will be paying for it!)

I have heard (2nd hand) that they are going to use two cranes to lift/roll it, one at each end, but I don't know the details just yet! When they do, it will roll into the hole that they have just dug, and then they will have to manoever (?) it out from there!

Then all there is to do is to is fill the hole in! I can see the benefit of piling across the excavation and then backfilling the hole! It will be much quicker than having to rebuild a stone wall on a new foundation.

I hope someone has time and a camera when all this happens!

  6. When you said bleed did you mean drain. If you have a drain valve on the tank it should have a plug in the end of it. is that where its leaking?

Yeah. Its got a fitting on the end where you can bleed it like on a radiator. A little square nut like jobby.

i'll get a photo over the weekend.

  7. Not sure about dogs but the Narrowboat of course and the Castle - does draught Old Peculier.

    There are very many others.

weve done most pubs for drink in Skipton and sat outside many but never ate inside with the dogs. We cant leave them both aboard so we need to take them with us. Narrowboat or the Castle were the top 2 we were thinking of.

  8. What is reason for the two different types Darren?

To be honest i dont know. Do exactly the same job. Think its down to costs and supplier. Over 90% off the arrays we have fitted they have been MC4. Fit better and more secure are 4 than 3.

  9. As a domestic installer of PV. I agree MC3's are a lot harder to crimp than 4's. If you remove the MC3 and swap for what ever, your guarantee is definitely void. If you are after a length of cable with what ever connector on the end try your local PV installer if there is some left or supplier who may make up the leads you require.
